Back from California, the land of food!

Wow, it's been a while since I've blogged. But don't worry, I didn't fall off the deep end.
I just tripped into a bit of a ravine...
So I went to California last Sunday.
I brought exercise clothes, I had a plan, I had my computer for blogging.

Well, you know how they say "The best laid schemes o' Mice an' Men, Gang aft agley."
(that's the actual quote, but you know what it means emoticon )

So I wanna say I ate "ok". That's basically been the overall assessment of the last week or so.
Just "ok".
If I wasn't trying to lose weight, my level of nutrition and fitness would probably work to maintain.

Unfortunately, I still have a loooooooooong way to go before I'm in 'Maintenance Land",
so I need to step it up.

I did walk ALOT. Not as much as I thought I would, but still a lot. I went on a long hike to see Elephant Seals, which was awesome and walked around SF one night.

I did break all of my streaks this week. I had beer, and fried food, and sugary crap.
Yesterday I had beer and sugary crap in one item: the CAR BOMB FLOAT.

Yeah, Irish Stout, Bailey's Ice Cream and Jameson Whipped Cream.

It was good, but not great. I'm glad I tried it, because I'm not one to get a Shamrock Shake but I like to try weird seasonal items. You only live once...probably.

ANYWAY.

All of that stuff was fun and good and I don't regret it at all.
But now I'm back. It's steady in the 40's and I have two weeks until I'm back in California, this time for Spring Break ZooCamp.

So, as of Sunday, I'm officially starting another 2-week streak that I am hoping with all my might to actually complete.
Here are the goals:
emoticon Kick butt at the gym AT LEAST 4x per week!
emoticon Salad a day, everyday
emoticon No beer, wine in moderation
emoticon No sugary CRAP (i.e. candy, cookies, junk food, etc.)
emoticon No fried foods
emoticon Track my food 5 days a week
emoticon Blog on SP at least 3 days a week

Something interesting a realized this week of eating all the crap that I've been avoiding is that I felt like it. CRAP. "You are what you eat." was never more true this week. My stomach did not feel great, my digestive system was freaking out and I often felt sluggish when I shouldn't have. Getting off track was actually good because it made me realize how much better I feel otherwise.

Today I'm going to clean out my fridge and then fill it again with more healthy foods for the week. I'm not really feeling motivated to go to the gym today but that may change. Like I said, I'm giving myself until Sunday to gear up for the many parts of my streak.

    Good for you! You're right - you only live once, and you need a healthy lifestyle that allows you to try different things in moderation. NOT when you've arrived at your "goal weight", but while you're on your journey. Sounds like you have some great short-term goals and a plan to achieve them!
