One Step Forward, Three Steps Back

Monday, February 25, 2013

There's nothing like being sick for sending your routine all crazy. I was doing so well, then BAM! Talk about having the rug pulled out from under you. As of this morning's weigh-in I am 2.8 pounds heavier than I was before I got sick and fell. Disappointing when I worked so hard to get it off in the first place. Part of it is because of so much sodium--canned soup, prepackaged food, and restaurant food is loaded with it. But I was sure glad to have it while I wasn't able to cook for myself. Then there's the lack of exercise........

I'm glad that I'm now doing well enough that I can start exercising again and getting in more steps. I swear, it's taking me forever to get up to those 5,000 steps a day! I'm also back to cooking again, so will be able to have much more low-sodium food. My official weigh-in day is Wednesday morning, so there's still time to lose some of that fluid weight.

Thanks to all my SparkFriends for all of your well-wishes, messages, Spark Goodies, and prayers while I've been sick. You're all the greatest, and I love you all!

It might feel like back-tracking, but the ups and downs are part of life! Water weight from sodium-rich soups comes off so quickly, so don't sweat a couple of pounds! Healthy living is about so much more than just weight loss - now that you're feeling better, you can refocus. And even though it feels so hard to re-lose the weight, you've done it before and you can do it again!

Glad you're up and around. It is hard to keep a routine when other people are feeding you. Been there!

So happy to hear you're feeling better. Water weight will usually come off very quickly once you can be up and about. Rememer to drink all of your water. It always sounds funny to me to hear drink your water and you wll lose water weight, but it really does work. Good luck and stay well!

Just doesn't seem right, does it?! I always feel like my body has no right to GAIN weight, when it has been sick. It should at least have the decency to waste away a bit.

But, a lot of sodium will just have you holding onto fluid. And once you are up and moving, drinking water, you will lose that fluid.

You are doing great with walking. I don't even get 1000 steps most days. emoticon

    Good Luck! Stay Strong! emoticon

Hi Brenda, Believe me it happens to all of us. Our well thought out plans go awry when we are sick so I'm happy your feeling much better. I know you will lose those few pounds soon so you're right to think positive and get back to doing what you were doing that worked so well for you. I'm happy to hear your feeling much better, as you've been missed my friend. Take good care.

    Hugs,

    Jill

Brenda, one forward and several back are still steps. You'll be right back where you were before you know it. So glad to hear that you are feeling better and will be able to start exercising again. Best to you!! Hugs, Jeannie
