I do not have a green thumb. But, we are trying gardening this year - meaning my boyfriend builds any beds, trellises, etc. while I dig in to bags and bags and bags of compost, peat moss, and vermiculite, mix them up, fill the planters, and plant seeds and seedlings to hopefully harvest. Fingers crossed! Of course, this type of self sufficiency means we can ultimately save money IF we can change our eating habits.
I actually do have a broccoli seedling I started which is now out in the bed. I also have planted peas, chard, carrots, beets, radishes and onions. Plus, I have started some flowers that will hopefully go out in front of our house, as well as tomato and pepper seeds. We still have lots of other seeds to go throughout the season - zucchini, corn, cantaloupe, watermelon, lettuce, cabbage, and cauliflower. I know this is quite a list, but my garden is small, so we won't be inundated. Small steps, just like exercise.
