Cleaning Up My Act
Tuesday, January 29, 2013
I have a tendency to allow clutter to accumulate. When I open the mail I might separate it, recycle the junk mail, open the envelopes, deal with the bills, and leave little piles of unfinished mail on the table. When I come home from the grocery I put the bags on the table and begin to separate things that go in the fridge and freezer from the things that go in the pantry. Any "goodies" I buy might be left on the table for a bit before I put them away. My method is to taste the ice cream while it is melty because that is my favorite way to have ice cream, extra creamy because it is melty. If I buy chocolate chips or some other bag of candy I want to open it and have a taste before I put it away. Sometimes the bag ends up sitting in plain site on the table next to where I eat my meal or where I might be preparing the next meal. It sits there tempting me with every trip past the table. "Deliver me from temptation!" I can hit two birds with one stone if I change my ways. If I put the mail where it goes and clear the clutter and put "all" of the groceries away as soon as I bring them in from the truck then my table will be clean and clear and my tempting goodies will not only be out of sight, but also out of mind!
