Baby Steps Back

Monday, January 14, 2013

Last week was a step forward indeed. 3 solid workouts of at least 20 minutes each, actual lunch breaks, and home-cooked meals each night. Nothing to sniff about! I also managed to sluff off the holiday weight I'd gained, which means it's now time to get to the real stuff!

This week is on track so far as well if I stick to plan.

I knew today would be a big day at work so no workout plans, but I do plan on my regular Tuesday morning workout with a colleague tomorrow, and at least 2 more lunch-hour workouts later this week after the rush dies down.

I did make time this weekend to plan meals for the next two weeks (full pay period). This is becoming more important as we are crunching some numbers on our finances lately, and also because it helps me ensure we'll be eating fresh food at home each night, which is way better than the habit we'd been in of eating out way too often. The menu's looking delish, with a mix of crockpot make-ahead meals, stews, casseroles and roasts. I checked the grocery sales before I planned, too, so I felt good about smart planning, both for our pocketbooks and our bellies!

Luke had baseball tryouts this weekend, so we were at the park both days. He didn't make the team, which was tough, but we are looking into alternatives for him. We are learning that it is hard to find ways to build sports experience at his age since most of his peers have already had opportunities to play on teams for years now and most leagues are more competitive at this age bracket. He loves sports and we are determined to help him pursue that interest since it is healthy for him both physically and mentally. Just send one up that we can find ways to keep doing so!
