when I'm tracking foods, I make such different choices? emoticon

Yes, IT WORKS!!! I'm not only tracking the nutrients that SP automatically tracks, but I've also added Calcium (which is so important to us women over 40!) and sodium.

I STRUGGLE to get enough Calcium. So, many of my snacks and desserts are to make sure I reacy my daily minimum!

And, I know that prepackaged foods often causes my sodium to get too high, so I avoid most of those. (Though it is sure easier to eat a 'lean' microwave meal then to cook a soup or casserole and try to figure out the calories!)

I also really change how I snack when I'm tracking. Usually, my snacks are cereal or fruit bars. When I'm tracking, I switch to Greek yogurt, nuts, fruit, even milk (to get some extra calcium!)

And, the other big change... is that my SIDES change... I haven't had chips since I started tracking again - it just doesn't help me meet my calcium & protein goals (I also struggle with hitting the protein minimum) and it sure hurts the sodium area. It's just pretty much empty calories! Instead, I had half a cucumber with the peel alongsinde my tuna sandwich and cup of milk today. And, it's YUMMY!

    Absolutely. Not tracking is when I get in trouble. Knowing I'm going to track something makes me very conscious of my decisions.

    I HAVE to track....when i don't. it's a short ride to weight gain.

    I need the daily accountability of seeing it in black and weight. I have also founf that I. on my own, grossly UNDERESTIMATE what I eat. When I weight it and log it, I see reality.

    Really? Texas! You're embracing the lifestyle! You're embracing the Rock Star in ya!
    Just the other day, I was looking at food served at fast food places. I got bored and said in my head, "That doesn't do anything for me!" After, I realize it was this lifestyle that has me on good fuel! I will track every day religiously for life! I embrace it, I know when I'm close to a sodium ceiling, and I keep my runner's plate balanced. Stay strong & focused!

    It's not so much the type of thing I eat but the amount! My downfall is nibbling between meals so tracking makes me much more aware of just how much I eat at such times. I'm on day 2 and going strong!

    I completely agree! I can go a short time without tracking, but then I start sliding... not making those super great choices like I need to. I'm also less likely to mindlessly snack because I don't want to take the time to track it!

    tracking makes me more mindful of what goes into my body. I try to do it even on "bad" days, just because I'm more likely to improve the day rather than dive off a cliff with it
