My Five Goals for the Winter Challenge!
Saturday, December 08, 2012
When I listed my five goals for the upcoming winter challenge I listed the first one as "to regain control." Upon reflection, I feel that's a little disingenuous. The truth is, I've always had the power to make right decisions about my health and have just frankly made bad ones. When I hurt my ankle four months ago I had no idea I would still be having pain this long afterwards. It really has hampered my ability to exercise so I've used that as an excuse for why I've put on 15 extra pounds on an already overweight body. I should have chosen to compensate for my lessened ability to move buy eating fewer calories--but I chose not to. I know the right things to do. It's up to me to do them.
Number two was to lower my blood pressure enough so that I don't have to take extra medication in the afternoon. This is a powerful motivator and this is totally doable, all I need to do is shed just a little bit of weight and I should be back to normal.
My third goal is to get back to drinking water--8 cups a day. Honestly, once I switch off of Coke I won't worry with counting. I'll be happy if I'm drinking water 90 % of the time. I've done this many times in my life and once I start drinking water I really prefer it. I don't know why I ever allow myself to fall back into drinking all Coke, all day long!
Moving my body is my fourth goal. I love the freedom in that expression. I can't do any sort of high impact with my ankle in the state it's in, but I don't want to use that as a reason to not move the rest of me
Lastly, I set the concrete goal of shedding 10 lbs. A number on the scale makes one face the truth!
I'm glad for this challenge to blog our goals and being part of the Lovely Limes team. I'm not a big blogger, but it seems to have reinforced in my mind what I'm working for here!
