A December Goal/Commitment

Wednesday, December 05, 2012

Apparently this is what it's going to take for me to make this happen. I have to publicly proclaim my intentions in a blog, air my own dirty laundry, all in an attempt to force myself to do something I want to do.

Last year, one of my most treasured Christmas gifts was a Fit Bit. I am pretty "into" fitness. I have a few friends who are enamored with their Fit Bits and I'm particularly interested in the feature that tracks your sleep/wake patterns if you wear it at night.

Hmmmm ... this is now December 5th. In 20 days, it will be one year since I received this nifty and interesting gift (I REALLY DO want to use it), and I've not yet even opened the package, read the instructions, set up my program. Sad, but true. Hard to admit in front of everybody, but sometimes, this kind of sh---t happens with me. Really? A year to get around to scoping out one of your favorite gifts?

Now SparkPeople chooses its first partner for a healthy lifestyle, and who is it? Yep, you got it - Fit Bit ...

OK, here goes ...

By midnight, December 31, 2012, I will have my Fit Bit account opened and synced with SparkPeople.

I refuse to publicly fail on this one ... and that, my friends, will make this goal happen.

S - pecific
M - easurable
A - ttainable
R- Relevant
T - imely

SMART goal ........... Will blog again about this matter.

Delayed but Determined

Aha...don't you just LOVE emoticon the synergy of spark~land~dom?

The beautiful and enchanting Maha sent me to your blog and even provided a link! Now THAT is friendship supreme right! emoticon emoticon

First I must add you as a friend..if you aren't already..it's a possibility you look familiar! emoticon emoticon Maybe a team event?

Anyhow...we are two peas from the same pod! I had my glistening NEW fitbit tucked in the recesses of my closet for a full SIX months before getting the motivation to peel open the package and sit my keister in the chair for the computer link up.

From there..it's all down hill coasting. You will love this little motivator! I wore my at night for about a week and then found that my sleep patterns were quite consistent so it seemed kind of redundant to keep it up. Besides it bugged me ever so slightly to have the cuff on my wrist...I even take of my wedding bands to sleep..don't ask me why? I like no restrictions other than my sleep shirt of course..always the modest worry about what would happen if the house burned down..erp! emoticon

But give it a go...you will really enjoy it. I like the fact that it gives you little motivational messages and I LOVE that it links into spark so you aren't double recording everything..who has the time for THAT!?!

I also ordered the Aria wireless scale another neat gizmo and really like it other than the GLARING body fat percentage indicator! Is this motivational or 'crawl in the cave and die' wisdom?

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy...and I've got my 'fitbit' eye on you girlfriend! emoticon

Get with it and move it, move it...MOOOOVE it! emoticon emoticon

I'm going to get my 10,000 steps in today...or pass out trying! emoticon emoticon

    Dear Delayed but Determined,

I have witnessed your SMARTness in many contexts literal and figurative and I have NO doubt that this little device will fairly JUMP outa' its box into your hot little paws.

We will be waiting with bated breath for updates!

You go girl!!! I could NEVER keep my paws off a new gadget like that - but I totally totally get not doing something that you really really truly want to do, and are completely free and capable of doing - yet it remains on the "to do" list. For me it has something to do, I think, with waiting for perfect and ideal moments. I'm trying to learn to just roll with it a little better.

Can't wait to hear about progress with using the Fit Bit - I know it WILL happen! emoticon

emoticon I would love to hear how you like your FitBit. I don't have one, but am curious if it would be a good investment.
