Sunday was a fun drive. It was pretty, we didn't find as many trees that had fall colors as we expected. DH thinks part of the reason is due to a fire or two in the area. On top of that, some of my tree pictures didn't turn out. Oh well, always another day. We were on our way. Alice prefers a window seat.
We drove by this ranch that has a cute wind mill advertising their fruit trees. It says Cherries, Peaches, and Pears.
There were tiny Wildflowers in the area. I thought it odd given this is Nov.
Bouquet Canyon is a winding road, and you can't pull over and stop when ever you want. It's a 2 lane road, so I took a couple of pictures while driving.
We had someone driving too close behind us. We like to enjoy the scenery while driving. For the life of me, I can't understand people who can't appreciate the beauty. But....there was someone behind us, in a big hurry, and on our bumper. DH found a turn out, so he could let the poor soul pass. I looked to my right, and in the middle of shrubs and trees is a tall Palm Tree. I jumped out of the car, ran across the street, and took the picture. How the tree stays so healthy is beyond me since Calif. is known of having periods of no rain. There must be a underground stream and the trees gets its water source that way.
We drove a ways, down the road, when I noticed unusual rocks sticking out from a hill. I bet there are all type of critters that hide in the rocks. The rocks really don't look that tall in my pictures, but they are about 800 ft. DH was off walking the dogs at a park next to the rocks, otherwise I would have had him take a picture of me standing by them, or vice versa.
This tree was right next to where I was standing while taking the pictures of the rocks. The tree was massive. The trunk was about 4 times my size. I couldn't get all of the tree in my frame, so I took a pic of the top of tree. It is a beautiful tree.
We drove back up the canyon. There is a restaurant, The Big Oak, that goes back to when the Stagecoach passed through. There used to be a lot of Oak Trees in the area, but fell victim of a few fires. On the week-ends, bikers of all types, hang out there. I even got one couple to pose for me. I liked their look. Wouldn't want to make them mad though.
The other bikers were parked down in front of the restaurant.
DH decided to give Sarge and Alice another break, and gave them some water.
We're back in Leona Valley now. There is a long road that leads to two or three homes. I like the rural look, and the autumn colors.
You will have to forgive me. I am pretty tired tonight. I will catch up on my sparking tomorrow. Have a good Tues., and don't forget to vote!
