Today I feel positive. I am on day three of my exercise ball workout and I find I enjoy it. The exercise ball keeps me off of a dirty floor, I can do the workout in my basement, provides comfortable support and makes the exercises more fun to do. I look forward to getting my 20 minutes in later tonight. I am going to take a walk at lunch today. It's a bit cold but I think I can still get out and take a walk otuside. I do have a gym nearby for when thats not an option. While I am a member, I do not feel a gym motivates me. I feel overwhelemed and I hate waiting for equipment. I dont like having people watch me while I do the motions. The treadmill and elliptical makes me feel weird when I get off of them, which i know is common but it makes it hard for me to want to use them. I'm hoping if I can at least make it in twice a week for strength training though since I dont have the equipment at home. I should just push through it and get used to it i guess but I am wondering how anyone else has these issues and how they deal with them?

    No my husband belongs to the same gym but wants to switch for a cheaper one closer to home. I am not switching (at least not now) because I go to night classes so I go to the gym at lunch, and the gym i attend has a branch very close to my office. When I am done school next spring and can go with him in the evening I may switch to the other gym. I have used headphones (when I dont forget them) but my biggest problem is the awkwardness of looking to jump onto a piece of equipment and someone is just sitting there taking a break. I hate that. I need to get to the gym though and do the strength workouts. I do like doing my ball workout. It keeps me motivated.

    Do you have a workout buddy? I always go to the gym with my mom so I have "backup" and if I feel awkward we can just talk and laugh.

    Also, i've found that headphones are a great security blanket, if you have to go it alone. Try going to the gym when its least crowded (5am).

    I like the workout the gym provides but I think its very smart to have several options like your ball workout and just getting outside and being active so you always have a way to sneak exercise into your day.
