7 Days Food-Sober! Plus: Frightening Fast Food!

Friday, November 02, 2012

Today is day 7 of our joint "Food Sobriety". Husband made a fantastic red beans and rice dish that I ate over brown rice with a side of 10 oz of water. Not to help fill me up, it was just spicy!

I worked out this morning for 13:15 on the elliptical and scored 1 mile. I made the mistake of trying to do some strength training on the side. I did 15 body weight squats and I think I had my stance too wide. It felt off. I did 5 pushups and when I stood up my right leg (the ITBS leg) was non-weight bearing. About a quarter of the way down my ITB I felt a pang and the outside-back of my knee hurt. Sigh. I did my bent-over rows carefully since I couldn't put weight on my right leg and scrapped the rest of the work out (lunges, plank, jumping jacks). It's seven hours ago now, just I'm still limping. I hate this injury. I think if I'd just broken it I'd get better faster. mega sigh.

I forgot my lunch when I went to work today! DOH! Coincidently, today one of my regulars brought me a HUGE McDonald's meal! I looked up the values: Angus Deluxe 760 cals, Large Fries 570 cals, and Large (I think..) soda 400 calories (if it's 32 ozs). Hating to waste food but determined to stick with my food-sobriety I figured that if I cut the burger and fries into fourths I'd get 190 cals for burger and 143 for fries. 333 calories is about perfect for my meals, and with the workout I had this morning I still come out at the deficit I want! WEE! The soda simply doesn't fit, and I really don't mind. It's sitting in the fridge so I can try to give it to a coworker later. If he doesn't want it I'm pouring the soda down the drain. I don't like wasting calories but I am not a garbage can!

I now have lunch for three more days. I took a photo of a quarter of the meal because it's just amazing how small 333 calories is when it's fast food!

I attended an online tutoring today (two hours) for Organic Chemistry. It seriously helped a lot. I do need to put a lot more work in for Genetics today, so I'm on that next.

- 2 hours Organic Chem, More Genetics slated.
- Food on point even with forgotten lunch and fast food!
- 1mile elliptical, some strength, irritated my ITBS. Pouting.

Congratulations on cutting down the meal to fit your needs! Eating out can happen, but not when you get the up-sized meal with a pop. I usually just have a sandwich no fries, no pop, when I eat out.

    Good luck on the schooling!

good job curbing the calorie intake with fast food. I have reverted to ordering a small kids meal at such places to avoid extra calories based on sandwich toppings.

Good luck with the studies, O-chem can be quite challenging.
