Too much almonds...

Friday, November 02, 2012

I think I had way too much of them today.

It seems that I can't really build muscle at about 2100 kCals. Granted, this intake still causes caloric deficiency, although the deficiency is rather small. It seems that I have to go to 2400kCals to put on muscle (and some fat, inevitably).

That of losing fat and gaining muscle mass at the same time is not happening to me. I wish it did. It has been 2 months, and my strength gain has basically stalled.

The culprit is without doubt being short of calories.

Almonds are good for you. Of course, there is an old saying about too much of a good thing. At least you did not say, "I had too many Twinkies!"

I think you have a point about calories and muscle building. I am not sure you have to put on a noticeable amount of fat to build muscle. I have a great book called "Power Eating." This book is a common sense way to get strong and faster without eating like a horse.

Sometimes we hit a plateau in both weight loss, endurance and strength. Try changing things up a little and see what happens.

    Good Luck, Bruce
