Finally - Cholesterol Level Success
Thursday, November 01, 2012
I have been working for what seems forever on reducing my cholesterol levels! Ever since my Gastric Bypass surgery, i've been expecting that i would be one of the high percentage of patients who would see a big drop in cholesterol levels post surgery. However, it's been a battle. As my both my doctor and bariatric doctor have reminded me, i've been doing all the right things, but am probably genetically pre-disposed to have high cholesterol Every check i've had post surgery has been the same - high overall, too low on the HDL, too high on the LDL. But i've stayed true to the plan - I lost over 100 lbs, exercise regulary 6 days a week with both cardio and strength, take fiber supplements, fish oil 2x day, keep my cholesterol consumption under 100 per day and of course, my lipitor. But every check has been the same.
So imagine my sheer joy when i got my lab results in the mail this week from October!
Cholesterol = 211
HDL = 56
LDL = 138
Cholesterol = 162
HDL = 70
LDL = 81
So if you are someone who regularly has high cholesterol - take heart! Keep doing the right things and eventually you will see improvement! It's taken me a year and a half fighting this - but FINALLY success!!!
