Ranch Day

Monday, October 22, 2012

We were not far from the ranch when we spotted a couple walking a Shire Draft Horse on the side of the road. It was only 6 months. The horse is going to be a big boy. He was very sweet and calm for his age. The couple is doing a great job with teaching him to trust roads, saddles, blankets etc. Sure hope I run into them again.

The new Llamas have arrived. All females. I forgot their names, so I will ask again.

What a sweet face.

We were windy today. Should be tomorrow as well. When ever you see fog hanging over the hills, you know it is Mary Poppins Day.

Finnegan was happy to see Alice and Sarge.

DH finished helping out at the ranch so we left. It was to windy to ride, so my friend, who owns the ranch, said if she wasn't working Tuesday she and I could go riding. emoticon

As we were driving home we spotted a few of the Long Horns.

My Roses soaking up the sunshine

Birds lining up for the sunset. They sure enjoy life!

Have a good Monday. Stay safe!

Just beautiful pix! Those roses just glow.

You're so lucky to see that baby! Draft horses are so uncommon these days. My Dad had several when I was growing up, mostly Belgian or Percheron or Clyde. Shires are so flashy! emoticon emoticon

Those birds lining up reminded me of when I was a child and I saw them doing that outside the house I lived in.

I Love Shire horses! I think it's the feathers -- I tend to like animals with feathers: border collies, Irish setters, etc. I saw a lot of them when I was in England, and they are just grand animals -- and I think mostly pretty gentle, or else well trained to be dray horses.

Windy here today too, to go along with the rain. It's our first real storm of the season, & I'm lovin' it! Gonna go curl up with a coffee & a book in a few minutes -- my favorite thing to do on a rainy day!

Love your photos as usual...our neighbor across our road has huge draft horses..used to be Belgians but think they are Percherons..not sure that is how it is spelled. He used to take them to the Rockies to log trees on the mountains..but he has MS now and so has them for pets..lovely horses and such good temperments...It is a joy to watch them daily. I guess I need to take photos and share..thanks again.

Beautiful horse! I agree - I, too, hope you see them again and can chronicle his development. Finnegan sure is a cutie, too! We are loving that fall finally has arrived down here, too. Enjoy!

Those birds on the wires made me think of Alfred Hitchcock... you keep an eye on them...you have a lot of birds in your area and if they ever decide to join forces, it could get ugly, LOL!

Loved seeing the close up of the llama. My mother delights in telling me that the first time I touched a llama when I was just a toddler I exclaimed that it had a rug on his back. Finegan has a cute expression, and I especially love your yellow roses. I have always marveled at the way birds line up together like those in your picture. :) thanks
