Let's Ramble Together!

Sunday, October 14, 2012

Okay, I am just going to ramble a bit this morning. I went to a conference on Friday and ate some of the food that was there. It was tasty but NOT what I would have eaten if I was at home. I did take some food with me...fruits, veggies and whole grains...in a cooler in my car. I did grab an apple that I brought and ate that instead of the pastries they had for breakfast. I ate their lunch. I ate two pieces of whole grain bread that I had brought from home as my mid-morning snack. I have been getting used to eating small amounts about every 3 hours. That seems to keep me satisfied and helps my energy level some. So, the verdict was that I consumed too many calories and lots of sodium. I just had to guess on my tracker because I did not know the exact amounts of everything in the foods I ate at lunch. Bottom line, I blew it for the day. Most of the days since I have been back on SP. I have been UNDER the 1500-1850 I am supposed to have so I guess that one day did not kill me. I am losing weight but it is going MUCH slower that I would like. I am trying to be happy with the small steps and remind myself that I AM making progress. If you are reading this, I would love it if you would friend me because support is a great thing for all of us. We can cheer each other on along the way. emoticon emoticon
I hope that all of you have a blessed Sunday!

I can relate, a couple weeks ago we went to a birthday dinner for my dad...to a mexican restaurant! Ugh! The sodium! I made smart choices (chicken fajita with extra veggies, only ate about 4 ounces of chicken and a ton of the veggies and then I didn't eat the tortillas at all), however, I couldn't resist some chips and hot salsa! haha Talk about sodium overload! The next day I felt guilty and "swollen". Drink lots of water! We are all going to end up in these situations every now and then and they are out of our control for the most part. But what we do have control over is picking which food we are/aren't going to eat, control over the amount/portions we eat, and like you had done - bring some healthy foods with you as an alternative.
And remember, progress is progress!!! So celebrate every pound and every ounce and every inch lost! I'll be celebrating with you, too! emoticon emoticon

If I go somewhere that doesn't have posted nutrition, I have to guess at it also. Thus going to potlucks, small restaurants, etc. is always a problem for the nutrition tracker.

Don't beat yourself over calories for you had so many positives going for you in your planning and execution during your conference that I applauded you. Just chalk it down to lesson learned on how to emoticon improve some on plans for the next one and move on. You’re doing great so keep it going…….
