A miracle is a change in perception...

Thursday, September 13, 2012

I'm a big quote person. I just love them. I once read the quote "A miracle is a change in perception" and knew what it was implying, but didn't have any experience with it to fully understand its meaning. As an adult I have always done things the way I've always done things....thus why I haven't accomplished things in the past after failing to achieve my desired achievement. I would start something the same way, continue with it the same way and fail the same way. Every. Single. Time. Until I began my journey of change. Now I'm finally getting it. It seems lately I've been able to take a frustrating situation and put some thinking energy into to see how it can be done different and hopefully be able to achieve my desired achievement. In the past I would do like many others have done with regard to nutrition/health/fitness. I would do the same thing I had always done; the same diet, same workout, same motivational speeches in my head...been there, done that type of stuff, always hoping for that quick reward of change from my body. I've changed it up by changing my thoughts and perceptions on what "change" I am actually looking for from my body. For me now it's not all about the number on the scale, or the size of my jeans. It's become about how much energy I have, is my skin appearing to be more of a glow or an off-grey color because I didn't get adequate sleep, being able to get adequate sleep, feeling good within myself because I'm making great choices, my attitude. The perception changed along with my life and it does feel like a miracle at times. It feels good to not have the scale be my deciding factor on if I'm going to smile today or not. It feels good to be thinking outside of my old box and be able to see the many different choices that are out there and having the ability to choose the one I think may work for me is very empowering. I had this ability all along, and it's a sad shame that I felt unable to take advantage of it throughout the years. Lesson learned and I will continue looking for more of these opportunities to continue moving forward in this lovely new life.
