Operation Wedding- complete- I'm married!

Monday, September 03, 2012

I can't believe my wedding is over and I'm married (and have been for over a week now)! We had planned this wedding for 7 months and it came and went so quickly! But I guess that's how life is, and you just have to learn to savor those special times! And it sure was a special time!

On the day of my wedding my photographer gave me the advice to take mental pictures of the day because it would go by so fast. So I did. And of course I have actual pictures, but my mental pictures of the day include so much more than what is seen- the feelings, my thoughts, the look on Paul's face when he first saw me, the smell of the grass after the rain, the taste of the cake and the feel of our first kiss as husband and wife. It was all so magical and perfect.

A while back I said I was stressed about my wedding day, but really I wasn't stressed, I was excited. I was full of emotions on the morning of my wedding. Most of my family and friends from Israel could not be there with us in person so I received a lot of phone calls, cards and even a recorded message from them. It was very emotional for me. We're going to have another wedding celebration in Israel in December but it still meant a lot to me that my family and friends took the time to congratulate me and thought of me on that day.

I arrived at the wedding venue with my mom at around noon and we had a cabin there for all of us to get ready (there's one for the guys and one for the girls). It was great! The staff took care of everything! I was totally relaxed and knew I didn't have to worry about a thing because they'd take care of it all. My friend did my makeup (and she did an amazing job!) and my hair dresser came to the cabin as well. It was fun being pampered :)

The ceremony was planned to start at 7pm and we were going to do some pictures before hand. At 4:30pm it started pouring rain (the ceremony was planned to be held outdoors)! But I knew nothing could ruin my day so I didn't sweat it. And sure enough, half an hour later the rain stopped, the staff cleaned off everything, the temperature cooled down a bit, and it was perfect!

The rest of the evening flew by! Paul was moved to tears when he saw me walk down the aisle. I thought I would cry but I was so happy I just couldn't stop smiling! The whole night the smile didn't come off my face. It was really an incredible night. All our friends and family has a great time and they still tell us how amazing everything was!

I can't wait to get the pictures and video from our photographer, but here are a few that were taken by friends and the owner of the wedding venue (I'll post more as they come!):

Before the ceremony, we were around the corner from each other so that we wouldn't be able to see each other :)

Congratulations! Your wedding cake looks so much like mine did...only mine had only silver dots and a black ribbon at the bottom of each tier, otherwise it looked just about exactly the same. :)

A group picture of all the guest is unusual but a cute idea,.
My son who is 37 got married for the first time 2 yrs ago to a Jewish girl who'd never been married & she is now 36. They had such stress over planning a wedding that they finally went to a Resort in Hawaii & got married there on their own since they had agreed on going there for the Honeymoon. They had a wonderful two weeks & have lovely pictures having the vows out by the ocean with a lady minister. My DIL even had the dress rental included in the $400 package that the resort charged for the wedding. I have some pictures on my Sparkpage. Once they came back they were really happy to have been free of all the stress.
My advice is to read Harville Hendrix's book "GETTING THE LOVE YOU WANT". I read it long before he was on OPRAH. His number one rule in a marriage is to never ever criticize the person you love. He says that it never ever builds the person up and it only tears them down causing them to be resentful. Most people just can't phantom following such a rule.
