In my last blog I talked about what progress is. I defined it this way:

"tracking - no matter what I eat.
weighing - no matter how much I think I know what the scale will say.
moving - no matter how tired, busy, etc. I am."

Tracking? Check!
Weighing? Check!
Moving? Ah, now there's the rub.

I'm not being lazy.
I have enough time.
I really want to do it... BUT...

I've developed plantar fasciitis.

What's the cure? Stretching and REST.

A couple of times a day I have to talk myself down from walking anyway.
If I don't let it heal this could go on for months and months.

Recovery (without reinjury) takes weeks.

So ironic.

Oh man! That totally SUX! If I were you I would look at how you can change what you eat to help the healing. I know that when I stopped eating wheat a lot of my body pain (fibro pain) was reduced by 70% after just 4 days of going wheat free. Sometimes changing what you eat CAN really help. Just for kicks google it and see if there is a possible link between PF and wheat. Who know?
Good luck. Heal well. Heal fast!

emoticon so sorry I've had two bouts of PF and it is no joke. Do not start walking until your doctor gives the ok. I did and ended up using a walker for 6 weeks. Take good care of yourself and I'll emoticon for a quick recovery.

My DH has this and it was bad. Nothing the doctors suggested worked and shots and pain meds didn't help at all. The folks in our 55+ community had the answers. One is a boot worn as much as possible that pulls the toes up and stretches the back of the ankle. Second is shoes with great support--the best being Birkenstock sandals. It took time but he recovered completely and wearing shoes with good support all the time has kept it from returning.

Look up the boot--it really works.

Sorry you have to go through this. While your foot is healing, maybe you can focus on strength training. A lot of those exercises can be done while sitting or lying down. Hope you feel better soon! emoticon

Yup, ironic, for sure. I have had plantars and it is no joke. I had to get custom made inserts for my shoes, but it worked. They were expensive though... I guess if I am in enough pain, I am willing to pony up the dough... Be careful and be well. Take care of those feet.

How annoying to have to do the exact opposite of what usually makes you feel better. Can you do something like biking?

Hope your plantar faciitis clears up quickly.

Oh, man, the pain (physical AND mental), I am sure! Sorry for the ironic development! Glad you are taking care to let it heal, and proud of you for not trying to "power through the pain!"
