More goals

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

I posted some goals in my last blog entry and have been adding to them. I have not lost weight even though I have been following the "rules". But I am feeling a bit optimistic. I have a personal trainer set up. I will see him twice a week and if he isn't there, there are substitute trainers who know the same routines. I am quite sore, but not in an excruciating way. I know that I can spend a couple of hours at the gym and feel very virtuous, but not really challenging myself. Yes, I will be moving and that's a good thing, but the Personal Trainer has me moving in ways that take effort, in ways that cause a lot of soreness afterwards, but also in ways that I CAN HANDLE.

So here come my goals again--slightly revised:

Lose 5 pounds by end of month
No eating after dinner except for freggies
No insane spending sprees. No immoderate spending. No unnecessary spending.
Get in bed by 12 midnight at the latest!
Try to keep calm and carry on!
Avoid sodium!
Pursue more time at a higher cardio range.
More and more and more vegetarian meals!
Make more no-knead healthy bread.

I need to stop wasting time. I need to avoid trying to get Spark Points just for the sake of getting points but rather to integrate Spark People into my daily life and not be consumed by it.

Things that are good for me;
Canoodling with the cats
Listening to classical music
Writing letters
READING!
POETRY!
Lots of exercise!
Go back to work with an insouciant attitude! What difference can it possible make in the end?

By the end of the year I'd like to be out of plus-sized clothing. Right now I am mostly a 1X. I'd like to get that down to 16 or 18 or 14--that neighborhood. emoticon

Wonderfully written. These SparkPoints are addictive . . . a relationship I already have with food, so getting handle on this one key that will bring you great reward.

emoticon and good for you, a great bunch of goals! I am still keeping your "only freggies after dinner" rule in mind and it really does help. Thanks! I have no doubt that you will make your goal, you are right on track, and losses are bound to come. emoticon emoticon

I want to be a size 12-14. I would be satisfied with that.

I like to work out in a group setting. I love my spin classes. There is something about sweating with a group of people that motivates me to try harder. it sounds like you enjoy your trainer, so that's the way to go.

I love your spending goals, too. That's something I need to work on.

I think that we should be friends on Goodreads.com. If you are interested, send me a private email. Goodreads is for book fans -- BTW, just finished listening to Bel Canto (Ann Patchett) -- great!

Sensible goals and steps to get there. I'm in the process of trying to get myself going again. Even when the weight doesn't go down as we would wish the health benefits of exercise and good eating are worth making the effort. It's taken me a year to get where I want to be (now I'm struggling to stay there!) but I do feel better about my size and health.
I like all your "good things" too - there's never enough time to do them all, is there?
