Scales, NSV's and Truth Telling....

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

I am now am 9 days aways from my Done Girls Red Hot Heartbreaker’s Challenge second weigh in. There is a Red Hot burning desire in me to reach my goal of 197 lbs. and if I make it, it will quite a lovely victory for me.

The last time I saw that number on the scale was...gosh, I don’t even remember.

My plan is to stick to low carbing it, drink my water and get in as much activity, movement and exercise as I can. I plan to do my high intensity workouts Wednesday and Friday of this week and will lay off the intense activity for the four days before the weigh in. Working out hard tends to make my scale go wonky and I never know what I’ll get. I really want to see a good number that day.

However, regardless of what happens, I already, I feel like I’ve racked up any number on NSVs (non-scale victories) and am quite pleased to keep reminding myself of those....

Some of my NSVs include:

emoticon Joining a gym with conditioning classes that challenge me every time I go and I am loving it!

emoticon Committed to drinking 32-64 oz of water every day. Not perfect everyday, but boy do I get reminded of it whenever I check in with my Spark Buddies!

emoticon I can now run 5K without stopping to walk!! One can not overestimate how important this victory is to me and how excited I am to do the "Run for Your Lives" 5K in September.

emoticon Hubby is quite pleased with my progress and let’s me know it in many different ways! emoticon

emoticonI’ve had to throw out two pair of yoga pants. They were too big and kept falling off me. emoticon

emoticonMany of the pants I have in my closet that I used to feel uncomfortable in are now down right comfortable. Some of them are becoming too loose.

Also, through the encouragement of many different Spark Friends, I’ve been inspired to set and begin accomplishing other personal goals. And mind you, this was not someone personally telling me to start to accomplish any of the varied and sundry goals and interests that swirl around my ADD addled brain (no I’ve never been formally diagnosed, but boy do I sometimes have all the symptoms!)

Instead, I simply take time to Spark and be Sparked by all the fabulous people who inhabit this kingdom. Not that we don’t all have our challenges and post and blog and whine about those a bit....but even those posts help me to see where I’ve BEEN, where I AM and where I’m GOING. One can never underestimate the importance of seeing progress and pitfalls in oneself and in others as motivation to keep moving forward.

There is nothing more intriguing, compelling or absorbing than truth telling.

Students of the Spark are masters of it!
