7th Day - Rest?
Sunday, July 29, 2012
So today will be my 7th day back in healthy habits. I have yet to break some of the snacking, but I know being too strict isn't good for me. I won't let myself snack the way I used to, but I don't want to disallow it either. I workout really hard, so I know that a few extra calories, carefully observed, will not deter my progress.
Today I was drenched during my gym workout. It felt really good, and it also felt very familiar. Those who are no stranger to my blogs know this. I always sort of feel like I'm in competition with myself. I'm always trying to find new ways to get an extra tenth of a mile, burn a few more calories, last longer than I have. I have certainly missed my gym, and most of all, my bike!
Today I weighed in at 364.2, a loss of 10.8 pounds. Most of that is water weight I know. I still feel great about it. I will take what I can get! This week sort of felt like a blur. I don't remember much, and it went by so fast. I actually don't mind waking up at 4:45am for the gym every day, and I honestly thought it was going to be miserable. Thinking that kept deterring me from actually doing it, as I was living in fear of exhaustion pretty much. I had talked myself out of it for so long, I finally had to make the decision to at least try. So I did, and I'm glad I did.
Meanwhile, I got my bodybugg on Friday like I thought. The setup was interesting, they ask a bunch of background questions. I wore it all day yesterday. I was surprised at a few different things. First, I take way more steps than I thought I did. I think I finished yesterday at 7,600 steps or so. And I was pretty much inactive after 1:30pm, lol. I did spend a couple hours in the morning doing errands after the gym, but that's all. I'm excited to see what it reports for me while at work. I'm constantly getting up from my desk, collaborating with various co-workers, and walking all around. It's just the nature of my job, which is nice.
Another interesting thing is that it tells you how many calories you burn a minute, and at my most inactive state (sleeping or laying down and watching tv) I burn 1.9 calories a minute, which comes out to be about 2700 a day. That doesn't take into consideration the extra calories I burn from working out, or cleaning, etc. So far the most calories a minute I've burned has been about 15, and that's during intense exercising at the gym. Most of my numbers aren't that high during the day. All in all, it says I burned about 3800 calories yesterday.
One bad feature is that it doesn't calculate cycling very well. And, well, I love my bike. So that saddens me a bit. So, who knows, I may have burned more calories than that since it didn't register my bike exercise as intense as I am. There are more interesting features to discuss, but this blog is long enough. I shall save that for another time.
