Real Diagnosis

Saturday, July 28, 2012

I finally had a diagnosis for my lower back pain. I have a mild case of spinal stenosis. I found it through a suprising source my acupuncturist. I was dumbfounded. I contacted the orthopedic and asked that he look at the MRI again and sure enough I have a mild case of spinal stenosis. Why he hadn't been able to see with an MRI and an x-ray is beyond me. The orthopedic who only mentioned that I had an SI joint issue. Needless to say, I am no longer seeing this physician.
I made an appointment with a neurologist who specializes in non invasive techniques for lower back issues. I hope that he will be able to assist me. The pain is very tolerable but would like to make sure that it doesn't progress any further.
I've gained 10 lbs since I haven't been able to work out at the same intensity. I realize now that I have to work out differently.

Spinal stenosis is a pain for sure. That's why I have to get weight off. I have not only disc spaces needing worked on, but I have spinal stenosis between my shoulders and it's affecting my right arm....makes it go to sleep a lot. I can just be sitting here and not move and one minute my arm is awake next it's asleep then awake then aching. It's gotten bad enough it's giving me rebound headaches.

So I am working towards getting weight off so I can have surgery, as mine requires surgery to fix before it does permanent nerve damage.
