My name should be Pollyanna

Friday, July 27, 2012

I'm realizing that someone close to me is stabbing me in the back. And I am so gullible that I've been totally ignoring it. This person is clever enough to orchestrate some things and make it look like I'm the bad guy.

I wonder how I can change and protect my back.

I have an idea I refer to as "Benevolent Hearing". It has to do with putting the best spin on what other do or are doing. You must also be able to hold a contracting view. It does not involve being a Pollyanna, rather, it involve making a choice to believe the best unless proved otherwise. It can even go as far as acting as if this were true, in the face of the knowledge that it is likely or absolutely not true. It is funny how sometime treating someone as if they are the best they can be, will lift them up towards their best.

It is like the scripture Math 10:16
Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

This allows us to be chanels of peace and healing without getting trashed in the process.

    Just a few thoughts

Being aware is the first step - strategies for dealing with it come after you are able to understand what is happening. Next step is deciding what outcome you want form the situation - teach them a lesson, retribution, just make it stop, get out of the way, learn to ignore it?
