New career...

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Today is payday and many thousands has entered my bankaccount although I have done no work at all since last payday... that is the glory of being employed!

And I am very grateful for being able to support myself and my child - but I have a hard time to make ends meet and am thinking about how to earn more... one idea is to reduce my worktime to 60 procent and try to get one assignment a week as a lecturer - that would surely raise my income a lot.

But I am a lousy seller - at least of my own services. I am fairly good at selling things that I don´t benefit from, but as soon as I get something from the deal I feel like a burden and have a very hard time emphasizing my arguments.

So we´ll see I am not quite ready to take that leap yet.

Changing Careers - Even Just Jobs! - is a scary proposition, in my Opinion. Take your time, and listen to the Advice of people who know you well and are Familiar with your Chosen Career.

Perhaps you need a manager? Someone to find you speaking engagements and then they can let people know how great you are...you don't have to. They would take a percentage of your speaking fees, but it would probably be worth it.

Out of my realm too. Here, speakers usually engage an agent for bookings. But, I have no personal experience to draw on. Good to be thinking ahead; you'll know when to make the leap. Hope you are enjoying your day.

I know what you mean, Meddy - just once I'd like to have enough income to be comfortable, instead of feeling as tho I'm living on the edge and won't be able to manage the basics... ah, well, such is Life, methinks--!
