What a long hot day!
B and I did our walk today in memory of my friend. As soon as we got there, a friend of ours caught us and hit B up with the pink...so much for that bath. LOL
Yup, that IS pink on his chest (not the glow from the tent or his leash). The tip of his tale was pink too. It was probably a good thing that they hit us up with the hair paint considering the heat; he did not get to wear the shirt that I was soooo proud of. It was incredibly hot, so the walk was made optional to attendees. We did walk, but took advantage of the doggy pools and drink stops along the way (and it was only a mile...if that). They did also encourage us to go straight to the air conditioning when returning from our walk. Once we were sufficiently chilled, we mingled around the silent auction. There was a professional photographer there with nice cheap rates...I had to put the shirt on for a few pics. She got an awesome shot (I did order a digital copy and will share when it comes in). Until then, we took a quick shot outside before leaving.
What was really cool was that all of my friends dogs were reunited. Prior to her passing she arranged homes for most of them (all 8)...some stayed with local family and friends. All of her dogs from far and wide were here for the walk with the exception of her elderly border collie who as of last week is back with her. It was so nice to see everyone together.
It's funny...I spent the last few days in a pretty emotional state, preparing for how hard today might be, but the days before were the hardest. Today was celebratory, as it should have been. Makes me realize that there are better days ahead.
