Moving right along

The last month has been such an emotional roller coast for me but things are getting better.
I am slow at work which doesn't help. I get my mind going and sometimes I sit up stairs alone and cry. I hate days like that. I usually work from home those days and clean. This week has been much better, thankfully!

I am moving right along on my LiveFit plan! Last week I started phase 3 and loved it! On Day two I did my sprints on the TM and loved it although the 7:30 pace was harder to keep up with the 30 on 30 off than I thought it would be. The next day the inside of my knee was painful. By the end of the week my knee had sharp stabbing pains on the outside and below the knee cap and dull achey pain on the inside and I felt as if my knee cap was going to dislocate. I backed off my leg days and did what I could and backed off some of the plyo that I knew would cause strain on my knee. I have an ortho appt next week so I can't wait to figure out how to fix this.

I am registered for the Make it by Midnight Marathon in two week that I am not able to run. I am bummed about it because I really miss my friends and we are all planning on getting together for this race. My friends have been there for me through all my ups and downs this past year and I really miss them! I know it's the right decision but still stinks that I won't be there!

I am also registered for the Marine Corps marathon in October. My training is supposed to start this week and I am unable. I talked to my husband about it and a friend and depending on what the ortho says next week I may give my friend my registration. I can't justify traveling half way across the country to half ass a marathon because I wasn't able to train properly. Also, there is a 6 hour cut off and OMG...If I DNF on a family trip to run this race and see DC...I would never let my self live that down!! My husband would never let me live that down!!
I am really hopeful that it's something easy to fix with some stretching, ice and a short period of down time. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
On a good note I was able to do 30 minutes on the elliptical last night at home without any pain so at least I have a way to keep my cardio up until I can run again. I am also hoping to swim some at the Y if I can manage to get off of work early enough to swim and then make dinner in a timely fashion.

I am really excited about tomorrow!! My hubby and I are going to take the day off of work, leave the kids at camp and go do Animal Kingdom! Mike has been working 6 days a week and the only day we have is Sunday which we normally go to the gun range or to Marshalls or something. It's normally the same things every weekend and with the kids. We could really use the one on one time and some fun! I have been looking forward to this for weeks!!! Tropical storm Debby has finally left us so it should be nice weather, a little hot, but not raining!

    It is good to take a day off with hubby. Sorry about the knee. I also suggest active release. My chiro does it and it makes such a difference. Hope things get better.

    Hope your knee is nothing big... that is why I avoid plyos and leg work! LOL! It's probably better for you in the long run to have strong legs though!

    I totally hear you on the traveling to races. last year I was freaking out about Seattle b/c I had IT band issues. I was like WHHAT??? I never had this before, and it only pops up after I invite my whole family to travel across the US to cheer me on in a marathon! OF COURSE! But it all worked out for me and I'm sure it'll work out for you!

    Whenever I get those knee pains I get ART (Active Release Technique) and it works like a charm. It MAY be something as simple as adhesion buildup on your ligaments, tendons etc and thereby pulling on your knee.

    I'm so glad you were able to do the elliptical yesterday with no pain! That's progress!!! I am SO ready for you to find out what it is... so you can get it fixed up and RUN! I don't want you to have to miss MCM!
    It already sucks enough that I'll miss seeing you at MIBM, I told Darlene yesterday too, and she was super bummed you won't be here too.

    You and Mike have fun!! What a great idea to take the day off and spend it together! Have fun, and enjoy being together!!
