Seattle Rock N Roll Half...

Monday, June 25, 2012

13.4 mi 02:17 10:13 pace Seattle Rock and Roll Half Marathon...According to my Garmin the course was a little long (13.38 as opposed to 13.1). Set a new PR, my previous was 2:22 so I am really excited to shave 5 minutes off!! Great course, a few hills but nothing too bad, mainly flat. This was the largest race I have run (26k participants!) and I was suprised that the race traffic was still fairly spread out even from the start. Really excited to run it next year!
Overall place: 6,034 out of 14,089
Division place : 627 out of 1,510
Gender place: 3,219 out of 9,470
I ran with somewhat of a knee/hip injury...and after the race I couldn't even bend my left knee, eek! Up to mile 8 I felt FANTASTIC and strong and we were crusing around a 9:30/mile. I always hit a wall at mile 10 and our pace slowed immensly but I still hit my goal- beating 2:22!
After the race there was a concert with gym class heroes, they were awesome. I also got a free massage so that was fantastic! The weather for the race was kind of gray and around 58 degrees (crazy for summer right!?) but it got sunny and warmed up a little for the concert. Everyone commented that it was a perfect day for running!!

It was hard to walk back to the hotel, go shopping, and then walk to the ferry on a bum leg. Definitely put a lot of miles on the legs this weekend. Had to pick up my moms car when we got back to Poulsbo at her work (a DR office) so the doctor on duty looked at my knee and found the exact spot it hurts. He said its not my IT band, it looks muscular and related to my hammys. I HAVE to take 2 weeks off from running but next week he said I can bike to keep my cardio up....RAGNAR is next!!! :)

Here a just a few pics...

Glad you had a great time too!

As I was driving there at O-dark early it was raining hard. Really thankful that it all cleared up for the race.

Talked to a guy that had one of the 10 race idol medals. That thing is HUGE! Maybe next year.....
