Ah to be back. . .

Saturday, June 23, 2012

Vacation was a blast. Left home on June 8th, traveled from MN through Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky. I saw a lot of mountains, water, and sunsets with my sweety. I did some strength training, watched what I ate but didn't get in much cardio. However despite that I had a blast. I've never been far beyond my home here in Minnesota and despite not getting to do a lot of touristy things I saw a lot. The mountains and tunnels in Pennsylvania, the mountains in Tennessee. We slept at the top of Monteagle one night and went down it the next morning, only to go back up and over it again for another load, lol. I got to see an alligator in the Florida everglades, a coconut on a palm tree in Florida. We went through South of the Border in South Carolina and played around with hats and things in the various stores. I got to see magnolias growing on their trees, to eat fresh picked oranges, tried boiled peanuts, saw the Tennessee Titans and the Cincinnati Bengal's stadiums. We drove through the Cumberland mountains and could see the Smokey's off in the distance, it was gorgeous. I've not yet down loaded my pics but will share some when I do.

We ate in the truck most of the time, using the coffee maker to make hot water for oatmeal or grits and then coffee. I cooked in the microwave going down the road while he drove. We listed to a bunch of audio books by Clive Cussler - think I spelled that correctly - , I read a few fitness magazines, napped in the bunk while he drove. There's a cool little safety net that tents out over the bunk so one can sleep while the other drives, it was cool. The two of us had no choice but to cuddle at night as the bunk is no bigger then a twin size bed but that was all good because we both like to cuddle.

The different truck stops were clean, and had a lot of nice people. Some of the other truckers made you think of hilly billies or trailer park trash because they just didn't look very clean but to each their own. We showered every day or two at a truck stop, did our laundry once a week and shopped every couple of days at Walmart. We also at out a little bit, Wendy's or Denny's or the occasional truck stop pizza, aw man was that good, lol. Got lots of compliments and comments passed in my direction regarding how good I look, love the ego boost but some of them guys were gross looking, lol.

We went shopping in Tennessee, he bought me a pair of cowgirl boots, a cowgirl hat and some new clothes - jeans, tops and bra's. I can comfortably wear at 44d vs my old 46d, woo hoo!!! Love that.

Getting back to work was tough, I'm still digging out but it has felt so good to get back to the gym and exercising. Today I started the couch to 5k training, I signed up for the virtual 5k at the end of July. I timed myself and it took me 21 minutes which I don't think is too bad. It'll be interesting to see how I progress/improve. I think the kids are glad I'm home but haven't really shown it, we'll see.

Anyway, off I go to chat with my sweetheart who's chillin' in NY tonight with another load. Night all
