Band and Bridal Shower

Monday, June 04, 2012

I had another busy weekend - I think that it will be that way until after the wedding:)

Friday I spent the day baking for my daughter's bridal shower and preparing for another band to come in.

Saturday, my husband and I went on a walk around the neighborhood and looked at garage sales. We got a nice Eddie Bauer wood high chair to have when the grandkids are here. Then youngest daughter (who is the maid of honor) and I went over to my friend's and helped decorate and set up for the shower. I also went grocery shopping, then came home and did more baking. We also figured out the wording for the wedding invitation.

The band was just 3 girls and they spent the day with some friends in the area. That was nice that I didn't have to worry about them and was able to get the things done I needed to.

Sunday was church, then the bridal shower. It went well and we got alot of wonderful comments on the food. Between the shower in May and this one we were able to determine which items will be on the wedding "menu". After the shower we met with my friend who will be the reception coordinator and my two sisters who will be the wedding coordinators.

This was an impromptu meeting as my daughter only asked my sisters at the shower to be the coordinators. (We had already asked my friend) I had been planning on coordinating everything as I did at my oldest daughter's wedding. Hers was a much smaller and easier - held at a church etc. This wedding is bigger and held outside and many more things need to be done. It will be held outside - 30 min away. We have to set up everything the morning of the wedding. I was going to be there, then have to get back home, cleaned up. dressed and then back to the venue by noon. It was going to be very hard to do. At my oldest daughter's wedding - I wasn't able to get my hair done. This time I will - thanks to dd asking my sisters to coordinate the morning. She is so sweet.

Today starts my "easy" summer. I had only one daycare girl. She sat and played while I sewed up another bridesmaid dress. It is ready for a fitting. I need the next two bridesmaids to come over for measurements before I can begin on theirs. So, my sewing plans for the week will be to finish the groom's kilt, and then make the bridal veil and sleeves to attach to the dress. If I get those done I will start on the groomsmen's vests.

I was down 2 lbs this morning from Friday morning. I was sensible and very careful on what I ate this weekend. The yummy baked goods were very tempting, I allowed myself to have some, but I didn't go overboard as I normally would do. My exercise only consisted of the walk on Saturday. So I was very happy!

I raked the dead grass in a portion of the front yard. I only did it for about 20 min after lunch once the little girl was down for a nap. It was just too hot to continue. I was tired so I just vegged on the couch doing nothing for an hour - haven't done that for awhile. I needed it. Now I am trying to catch up on SP.

Whew! Glad you were able to slow down and rest a bit after your weekend Carrie! What fun and such a blessing to have your hair done for this wedding too. You exercised self-control too, with your food choices especially with your limited intentional exercise time cut short.; I didn't do so well over the weekend with food choices! : (

    Joy!

Wow! You are very talented with the cooking and the sewing. It sounds like you don't even have time to eat. Glad your sisters are going to help the day of the wedding, that would have just been too much. You want to be able to enjoy the day! Hope everything is smooth sailing thru the wedding.

Sounds like a fun weekend. Glad to hear about your sisters helping coordinating things on the day of the wedding! Great idea! Look forward to pics of the kilt & bridesmaid dresses! (assuming they will have to come post-wedding!) Congrats on limiting your baked goodie intake at the shower!
