Its amazing how quickly time passes and how it amazes us no matter how often we comment on it. I was thinking back to day after reading someones blog to when I first started me lifestyle change or weight loss journey.

I was married to my now ex-husband for nearly 3 years. I was tired of being tired and feeling like crap so I started drinking slim fast shakes for breakfast with fruit and a slim fast shake for lunch with fruit and veggies and then I'd make a healthy dinner which I filled my small salad plate with salad and added a piece of grilled chicken or pork chop or some homemade beef item along with another vegetable and then about 30 minutes after dinner I'd take our dog for a good walk, we were usually gone for an hour. This was a wonderful time and in a matter of a few short months I lost my first 25lbs. I've kept that off and continued to drop more.

We joined the YMCA that fall because with the approaching winter and a dislike for ice I did not want to stop walking our dog but knew they'd be shorter on crappy days and I needed to keep going, I liked, no I loved how good I felt, and didn't want it to end. I stopped drinking slim fast and switched to fruit and yogurt or scrambled eggs for breakfast or a half of a bagel with fruit or any variety of things that kept it light/healthy. I kept up with my salads for lunch though at times due to relationship issues we had a lot of fast food for dinner. I was keeping up with my exercise but plateau because of the crappy fast food.

Once our marriage ended and I got into the free fitness center at work and was living in an entirely new and not necessarily happy situation I rededicated myself to fitness and healthy eating and managed to drop another 25 lbs. Now I've maintained that 50lb lose for about years now, even dropped 10 more two years ago but with school stress I gained that back and re lost it a time or two, lol.

I'm now done with school. I have an amazing partner who I love and he is very supportive and helping in my quest in completing my weight lose or just maintaining and toning. I'm not sure my body will let me get to the 200lb mark I'd prefer however what I do know is that today I am a stronger and better person for all I've been through. I have a lot of health and fitness knowledge I love to share, I love to encourage others and learn from the words of others as well. I'm approaching my 2 year spark-versary and I'm amazed at all I've learned while I've been here.

Life is for ever changing and at times is quite challenging but it is an amazing benefit that we have to have such a site as sparkpeople and all the freedoms we do in this country. I give thanks and send prayers to all who've fought or lost some one the fight to keep our freedom's. The United States is truly an amazing place and like life we should not take it for granted.

Have a great rest of your Memorial Day. emoticon
