This morning I got a spark mail from an old spark buddy who I have not heard from in a while, she was asking me to check up on her as she has gained about 15 pounds and needs to get back on track. It hit me in the heart, I started to cry, as I too am gaining weight and trying to get back on track. It seems we all have these issues from time to time. My thought was, OMG not her too....I have heard from others who seemed to be in this struggle...I don't have the answers for myself or anyone. These really perplexes me.....It really is the struggle of our lives and if we don't catch it right now, right today it will get away from us. I have had some crazy thoughts today as I worked, trying to get more exercise and wondering what I am going to do... Then the harsh reality hit me....I need to look myself in the eye and be HONEST with myself. I am eating to much, I am eating to many calories and not burning them off, I have slipped in to POKING food into my mouth as I cook or do dishes. I am eating more food than I need to, I need to watch my every move...yesterday I had a great breakfast but had the last piece of bacon, ate a tangerine and had a beef jerky stick, then had an apple with just a little bit of peanut butter, none of this is unhealthy but it was not tracked, so if I am eating an extra 200-300 calories a day then I will gain weight...seem unfair but its true, time for this women to get real with myself, be honest and stop the extra food as it's putting the weight back on me... The weight I worked so hard at to loose.. April 26 with be 6 years here at SparkPeople and it will be the first time I am not at a lower weight.....I won't beat myself up but I will start being honest with myself , stop feeling bad for myself and start doing what I know I should do and can do...

So thanks Joanne for the e-mail together we can and will get back to our goal weight...one day at a time, one meal at a time

Have a healthy day......

I ponder that statement. I understand what you mean by it, but remember that you ARE at a lower weight! True, it may not be lower than last year at this time, but overall, you are at a MUCH LOWER weight!
The good thing is that you have been honest with yourself, seriously examined the situation, and found the issue. You have the knowledge, ability and desire to make the necessary changes. And you WILL do it!

I love the mantra one of our fellow Sparkers uses, I am sure you have read it: "Lose and maintain . . . just don't gain."

I know you will do it Kitt. We are all right here with you. And yes, it breaks my heart too when I see a fellow Sparker struggle with a gain after having so much success in great losses.
    I have confidence in you!

You can never go wrong with being honest with yourself. Maybe this was your next "split in the road" on your journey, and you are choosing the 'do something about it' road, instead of the 'I don't know what to do' road, and you chose the right one. You can do this! And you know you can. And you chose to do it. That is awesome!

We all beleive in you can do this. You have done it and you are such an inspiration to so many of us. We all struggle in our own lives. You have had a lot of stress and other things going on. You know what to do we all do we just have to do it.

Those nibbles get us, for sure. I still nibble, but I nibble on a portion that has already been counted/tracked for the day. It makes the transition to no nibbling a little easier. I need to work harder on it. What you said hit home.

It's good you recognize what is happening. I read somewhere today that women tend to put 400 cals or more into their mouths without even knowing they're doing it.

You are catching it in the bud, Kitt, so you will do fine. I am just like you. A nibble here and a nibble there and first thing you know I had gained 25 pounds. I am so glad that I caught it before it kept going up and I found myself leaving Onederland. I know that when I reach my goal this time, I am going to be very careful. And those aren't just loose words!!

I know you will get things back under control because that is what you do. I've seen you do it time and again, and this time will be no different. Stick to the basics, take it one day at a time, and be nice to yourself while you get back in your groove. You WILL get there. Hugs!

Kitt, you've been under a lot of stress lately. Now, that you're more aware of what's going on, I'm sure you will get those 10 lbs back off. It's great that you're doing something now instead of waiting until it's more. You can do it!!!
