A Really Good Friday

During the Lenten season one of our Russian Orthodox churches makes pierogies as a fund raiser. The whole congregation works together, men peeling onions, others making the dough and the older ladies pinching the pockets of dough. My girls and I have gone once or twice every year since they were little. I was raised Methodist, so it's not the meatless aspect, but just the sheer yumminess of those little pockets of potato or cabbage filled pasta. Needless to say dripping in butter and onions they MIGHT NOT be the healthiest choice to eat. And did I mention that the ladies of St Michaels make some FABULOUS desserts to finish off the meal???? They do serve a great vegetable soup with it too....that's healthy right?
Well this year we hadn't been able to get to St Mikes yet (Heidi had a baby and Julie and I had to work, but today we all had the day off and we made a date. What's a person to do to make this a healthier choice? Why walk to St Mikes of course. So an hour before the appointed meeting, I left my house and headed to DD #1's house. She lives 3.5 miles from me. Then Heidi joined us and we all walked the rest of the way to St Mikes. By the time I got back to DD #1's house, I had walked over 5 miles.
DD #2 and I then went shopping and she dropped me off at home. Now I'm going to go play in my rubber stamping/craft room. I might go to bed early!
