We've just returned from a lovely weekend away near to the sea. We arrange this each year, and this year we were a party of 92.
As usual I was really frustrated at not being able to get into the clothes that I had chosen to wear, but that's the norm for me, and I can live with it.

Day one - one of our male friends said “I'm not being rude, but I believe you are bigger than me” - no great surprise there, I'm bigger than most people. Then he went on to tell me about someone whom he had met that would make me look slim – WHAT!
I let that go, as I know he meant no harm.

Then Day three – another male friend asked me how I got on with the chairs - “fine, I said” - then his wife said “they're ok”, to which he replied “yes, but you're only narrow” - WHAT! - I just laughed it off and said “Oh, I just let it all hang out!” - again, he meant no harm, he is a very big man himself, and wouldn't offend me for the world, I'm sure.

We are going back in one year, March 2013, and I am not going to be asked again if the chairs are too narrow for my situpon!

So from now on it's the 3 C's for me – Commitment, Consistency and Calorie control.

I gained 7 pounds while I was away at the weekend and returned at the heaviest I have ever been.

So, my friends WATCH THIS SPACE.

Go for it. You can do it and walk in next time so confident I have tried many times to lose weight but do feel now I can do it this time. A life style commitment now. Irene

I'd be so upset if that was me... but maybe they did you a favour if it made you come here. They'll be making different jokes next year ... like don't fall down the crack between the paving stones!

Thanks for welcoming me to the team by the way!

Mmm..very insensitive ! But as you say they probably meant no harm but I do wonder why people don't think before they speak! The idea do 3 C's sounds good emoticon I know you can do this as we all can with each others support x here is to another year of sparking!

Friends can do the dumbest things and they're our friends because we accept them as they are - warts and all. That's why my friends put up with me. I love your sense of humor and your perseverance. You can do it and surprise them all next year. The beauty of this program is that you can fall and get right back the horse because you have support.

Bet they thought they were being funny!

You are smarter than them though and can make a difference with those 3 C's before next year!

It is surprising what people will say while having no idea they may be offending or upsetting someone - good thing you have that sense of humour!
