I Just Want it to Work

It's been a little over two months since I joined SparkAmerica, and it's been so worthwhile! I seem to be "stuck." Waiting to break the 230 barrier and hovering just above it for far too long has left me weary.

I love tracking my food; I love the accountability it gives me. Something is not working right for me right now. Unfortunately, I feel it has to do with movement...or rather, lack of movement. Exercise has never been one of my strong suits but, when I started, I was doing a minimal 10 minutes in the evening. Even that has ceased. Being stuck really has to do with "not moving." I get it.

I will move more and will at least return to my minimal movement routine--trying to increase it at least on a weekly basis.

    I think exercise is key...at least it was for me. When I first started exercising after getting out of the hospital, I walked. I walked 1 mile out of town and one mile back. It was torture...every bone in my body hurt and it took me a long time to walk a mile!! I was determined though to do whatever I had to do to stay out of the hospital. So..I kept at it... over and over and over. Surprise ..I started losing weight...then I got faster...then I walked longer and I started feeling a lot better, not only physically but emotionally. Today a short walk for me is 4 miles. I do 60 minutes cardio and 60 minutes of strength training at the YMCA 3 times a week. On the other days..I still walk , usually 4 miles because I love it!!

    Start with baby steps...Who knows...maybe you will learn to love it too!!

    You can do this...just take it 10 at a time or what you can do...be consistent and before you know it...you will be amazed at your abilities. You have come a long way....great job!!
