Ever since MOSTMOM1's vlogs, I have wanted to hoop. She always puts a smile on my face, and I wanted that sheer happiness, too. Through another blog, I found Spellbound Hoops. Looked at her site, as well as her Facebook photos, and she had me. Spell bound! So many possibilities. I literally spent hours trying to decide, sometimes going into the wee hours of the night. But decide, I finally did.
They arrive Monday, just waiting for me to unwrap them.
My two hoops plus Makenzie's 19" hoop were shipped Priority Mail; Kaysiana's birthday hoop was a 1st-class 2nd shipment; and my twin minis were a third. Yet all three arrived at the same time. GD and I opened the 1st package before the six-year old got home from school and with the help of a hair dryer, I connected my two. Then, off to school.
Kaysiana's birthday was a few weeks ago, and she saw me looking at all the hoops online. When she asked if she could have a hoop, I was thrilled. And an excuse to go outside with my hoop, without people thinking I was outside for me. LOL. She took her time deciding, and we finally picked out the colors and tapes. She told her teacher that a hoop was coming by mail designed especially for her. I couldn't have picked a better birthday present.
Her hoop is a 30" kid's with neon-green prismatic & fuschia mirror-sparkle tapes and neon yellow & neon pink narrow gaffer tape.
I got two hoops:
1. By the Sea (4 Color) - the 40" sport-weight one (3/4” 160psi) with gold and blue mirror tape, and brown & teal gaffer tape.
2. Gator Glory - the 38" segmented blue, orange and white dance weight hoop ( 3/4" 100psi)
I also got a twin mini set - 22" ( 1/2" 125psi) beauties in gold mirror tape with neon orange and pink gaffer tape.
I decided to get two hoops for myself, as I was going to order 3 anyway, and there was a 20% discount if I ordered 4. Then I started thinking. If I get one for my 22 month old GD, then she won't play with mine. I asked Michala to make me a 19'' one, but I thought I would save money by just getting a blank one and putting stickers on it. Imagine what a pleasant surprise we discovered when we saw the hoop wrapped with Fire Opal metallic and purple gaffer. It is a real beauty! She wrote that she wanted Makenzie to have something pretty, too.
Needless to say, I am excited and well pleased with my purchase. There still is personal-touch service out there. It just feels so unusual when we receive it. Why is that anyway?
The weather needs to warm up now, but I can hoop in the house if :
1. I can keep it on my waist (clearing the chair height),
2. watch the elliptical bar on the right,
3. watch the treadmill handle on the left.
I am using the 40" hoop so far, and I would say the circumference in the family room is about 44'. But nothing vertical - I have a low ceiling fan. I've managed to do 14 rotations so far. Never could really do it as a kid, so I think that is good for the first day.
Here's just a few more pictures of a future hooper:
