Praying The Changes Stick

Sunday, March 25, 2012

For the past week I have been working really hard to start eating better, I want more than anything to be able to have at least one more healthy pregnancy... after one loss and a complete molar pregnancy I've been forced to wait a full year.... at first my eating habits went crazy... almost like I didn't care anymore because of what happened.... I didn't on the other hand let it get out of control I managed to lose weight even though I wasn't trying. But the problem was that I still wasn't happy with what I was eating... a bunch of nutrition-less junk. So I have changed that and started having cereal every morning... Raisin Bran with a half teaspoon of sugar. Then for lunch I've been having salad, shredded lettuce with spinach leaves, ranch dressing, and today canned chicken. It is delish and not even with cheese (which I love) I do plan to get some cheese soon. but I was surprised at how little I actually missed it. One thing I do have to have is black pepper... to me a salad is not complete without it. anyway I hope I can keep this up and we will see how things go after September when I'm released by my doctor.

Thanks guys for the comments!! I'm doing good but worried about my calorie intake... when I calculate it by my weight and age online it seems too much (to me) I'm not sure I'm getting enough of the good stuff and maybe just eating less bad stuff/not enough good stuff. Not sure how to even that out because when I changed how I was eating I just didn't feel hungry for anything.

Well you have a good start, you're prayerful! I had similar problems with nutrition-less foods - somehow they just did not taste good to me. For health reasons I gave up on that fool-hardy thought.

my first step was to get rid of all boxed breakfast cereals - like it or not their sugar content does no good for one's metabolism. I switched to oatmeal, Malt-O-Meal and other cooked cereals. For flavor I add 1/4 tsp cinnamon and for sweetness a 1/3rd cup of raisins, craisens, blueberries or other dried fruit to cook up with the cereal. Really its great. I also have with it 1-scoop of Whey or Casein protein (there is a difference).

My second step was to stop eating most processed foods and cooking oils that were obviously un-healthy. There are many spices available to put zest in bland foods. Curry powder, paprika, etc; and of course lots of pepper - including red pepper flakes.

Just those two steps alone had had me feeling a lot better. Hope this helps you and your future infant. God bless, Earl

Great job in changing your eating to healthier habits! I am sorry to hear of your loss, but glad to hear you have not given up on yourself. Choosing to get healthy before you get pregnant is a great plan! Keep up the great work!
