Low point

Wednesday, March 14, 2012

Life has reached a low point for me. My weight was spiraling, and I wasn't even eating bad. I am being laid off in 2 weeks, I have never ever been out of work since I was 14 years old. I have no clue how to even function with this thought. My 2 kids are suppose to go to college, but without my income, I have no clue how to do that! I know many people have struggled through these tough economic times, but it has finally slapped me in the face. I just can't seem to get my thoughts together and figure out what I am going to do. Here in Las Vegas, the unemployment rate is still very high, but the unemployment rate for construction workers is even higher. There are no new projects coming out and I see nothing on the horizon to give me hope. I am trying to find a positive in all this, but it just isn't there.

Millions of kids find a way to go to college without parents paying for it, such as joining the military (the Navy is great, especially getting into a hospital job) and then using GI BILL for college, and even getting college credits while in the military for schools they offer, and/or going part time to local colleges where they are stationed. (I live in Pensacola where we have a large Navy base and lots of classes are offered even on-base so they don't have to drive, and by computer on-line.)

There is financial aid and student loans if you are low income as well. Our local State college isn't that expensive, and my DD works and pays her way. She's finishing an AA this summer and has no student loans.

Hoping this was just a temporary low, and that things are looking up, at least emotionally. Gird up the strength, and move on! emoticon Prayers for your job search!

So sorry to hear that...I can relate. I also am being laid off in 2 weeks, and like you I have never been out of work before. The idea of trying to find something in this economy scares me to death!

But hang in there....things will turn around. Keep your eyes and ears open! There is an answer out there!

Things certainly sound difficult, and I pray that better things are on the horizon for you.

My father always had a saying that low points were good for us because at this point we were able to regroup and try new things but also it was easier because there is no where to go but UP! Dont give up on yourself things will work out maybe not the way you had invisioned or planned but God is always working in our lives and most of the time we can not see it we just have to have faith. God bless and remember as long as you have your health and kids there is always a positive. emoticon
