Me and My Bottle of Aleve

Sunday, February 26, 2012

This is a two part blog. Last week was a week from hell. I only got in one workout all week and spent most of the week in the car. We went up to my youngest son's school on Tuesday to take him to the doctor on Wednesday. As I expected he will need surgery to repair his torn bicep. This will make the third surgery on his right shoulder. The decision is when he will have the surgery.

Anyway, we left him back at school and drove home so that we would be back in time to pick my mil up from the airport. Got her on time, but she came home not feeling well. Once she was settled I thought the rest of the week would go as usual. Headed out to run some errands on Thursday only to get a call from my honey asking me to call the doctor for my mil. Went home picked up my husband, the off to pick up Mom. Long story short, she was sicker than we thought and the doctor wanted her to go to the hospital. Unfortunately our closest hospital was diverting patients to other facilities. Good thing I took the husband, so he could drive my car and I could ride with my mil. Luckily she was dehydrated and needed fluids which brought down her fever. We brought her home later that night.

Since she is staying with us, I needed to drive to her house and get everything she needed. There was another day spending time in the car and not on my feet. Suffice it to say all that time not being active stiffened up my back and caused a whopper of a headache. Enter the Aleve.

Today, it is nice enough to go out and play in my raised garden. I started the garden too close to the trees last year and didn't get much fruit (tomatoes and peppers) from the garden, so we decided to move it. After digging up the sod, turn the clay (I do live in NC), moving the box, adding new soil and preparing it to plant, my back is screaming. Another dose of Aleve and a hot shower.

I hope I have the energy to get back into my exercise routine tomorrow.
Yes, this was a rant. An explanation as to why I wasn't on much last week. And if all my SparkFriends have made it to the end of this...to wish you all a great week.

Sounds like a pretty rough week. Hope things will change for the better real soon! Even though we have "down-sized" and are in a patio home we have planted vegetables in our back yard flower beds and enjoy fresh veggies in the summer. I understand about the clay--we only do raised beds here in SC, also.

Take care of your back! I have an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon this week after 3 epidurals and weeks of physical therapy and a few bottles of prescription pain meds, still getting worse. Can't wait for spring in Iowa to start my garden here! Hope you mil is doing better! Hugs!
