OMG, I did it!

I cannot thank all of you who commented on my last blog enough.... It was truly the motivation I needed to get these "I can't" thoughts out of my head. It was 22* out this morning with a pretty good breeze blowing. My sweet, loving husband tried to throw a wrench into my plans by pleading with me to bring him up someting to his work that he forgot.... Sorry.... the ole "people pleasing" me is no more. I am on a tight schedule today and would not have been able to have squeezed in my run this afternoon (even though it was supposed to be sunny skies at 35* with no wind). So.... I changed up my plans a small bit, and told him I could be up at his work about 30 min later than what he requested..... Problem solved!
The run went pretty well! Y'all were right in that the hardest part was just getting started. I wore my compression running tights, but probably should have worn my wind pants over them because the wind really cut through them. I wore a thermal, long sleeve under shirt, a t-shirt, a fleece jacket, and my lightweight down jacket with a hood. Also wore my gloves and a hat.
I went out to the mile long track at the AF base---- my favorite place to run because I don't have to worry about cars, they have super nice heated restrooms, I can put my water and stuff down and don't have to carry it with me, and I can quit early if I need to. OK, so half of the mile, where the wind was pushing my back was great! OMG, but when I had to round the turn and run into the cold wind..... whoooo wheeee! That was HARD! But I kept concentrating on getting past that half mile.... and I would tell myself "only 8 more times", "only 7 more times", etc..... and the mental tricks really did the trick. In some weird way that I can't seem to put my finger on, this felt like the shortest, long run I have ever done! I did 1min run/1min walk intervals in 1:44 which is better than a 12 min mile....
So, I can chalk up another victory to me in this battle against obesity!!!!! Feeling pretty invincible right now! But I am SO glad early next week we will back up into the 60's..... LOVE TEXAS!!!!!
