"...be lead by your dreams"

Saturday, January 28, 2012

Last week, I bought a kitchen magnet with this proverb:

Today, in an effort to look up from my "problems" and identify my "dreams", or at least the "whys" of wanting things to be different, here are the things I came to think of:

emoticonI want to be here for my daughter tomorrow and well into my old age
emoticonI want to be a good role model of healthy, normal eating to my daughter
emoticonI want to live with energy and spark
emoticonI want to feel strong and flexible
emoticonI want to live with radical acceptance of my body and be comfortable in my skin
emoticonI want to choose my leisure and social activities based on my desires and needs (as opposed to how I feel in my body and whether I have something reasonably chic and comfortably concealing to wear)
emoticonI want to dress my style (as opposed to least gruesome available in applicable size)
emoticonI want to enjoy trying on and purchasing clothes
emoticonI want to be part of the change in how we take care of ourselves in the western world
emoticonI want to inspire and support others in their change process
emoticonI want to be able to dance all night
emoticonI want to enjoy the feel-good aftermath of exertion
emoticonI want to fit comfortably into airplane seats
emoticonI want to be as oblivious to my hip and feet as I am of other parts of my body (i.e., no pain)
emoticonI want to be able to pick something up from the floor without cutting off my airsupply

Yes! Focusing on the positive is what drives me forward. All of these dreams are within you to realize.

Loved your quote, stealing it for my january blog theme... when my daughter was born eleven years ago I had the same thoughts as you. Today I wonder how to be honest about my eating disorder without giving her too my grown up information...
