My One Year Spark Anniversary...Thank You SparkPeople!

Saturday, January 28, 2012

One year ago, I went online to try to find out more about WeightWatchers and its new program and if there were any other similar programs to WW that were maybe a bit cheaper and without the numbers (I tend to obsess); I found SparkPeople. It's been a whole year and I've managed to log on and log all of my foods, water and exercise every day for the past year. I did miss spinning the stupid points wheel on one of those days...which is apparently how SparkPeople logs your attendance....not that fact that you log your food, water and exercise. Rrrrr. It's fine...I probably would've gotten a "3" (or lower) anyway. LOL Note to self: make friends with hackers.
I've also managed to lose 33 pounds (well, at least until tomorrow's weigh in; LOL I had Mexican for my hubby's b-day, tonight). I hope there will be less yo-yoing over the next year. DH has pointed out that others on SP have lost 100 pounds in one year; that's fantastic, but it's not me. I need to lose at a rate that I can maintain with my crazy schedule...and even 30 pounds was a challenge (but still a win) for me.
Other things I lost: some of my curves; yes, there is much less junk in my trunk and in turn, it sags quite a bit less. I have to look for a whole new style of jeans; one that doesn't allow so much room in the back; NEVER had that problem before. Somewhere along the way I got myself an all-natural butt lift! I've also lost some of my self-conscious behaviors (running only after dark, running in 15 layers of clothing, even when it isn't cold...just to hide the extra jiggling that I did).
In addition to gaining some confidence, I also gained a bunch of fabulous and supportive SparkFriends. People who have supported me through wins and losses, who were so cool to let me check out when I lost one of my best friends and who are willing to listen to me blab on and on about my dogs. Love you guys!
Over the past year I surpassed my fitness goal by more than FOUR TIMES my goal minutes. I found that body is capable of great things...things that my pessimistic mind made me believe I could never do....HA TAKE THAT!!
It's been a great year and I plan on making this year just as great (maybe with a bigger weight loss, though). Thank you to all of my SparkFriends; you are the best. And thank you Chris & SparkPeople.

Wow! This is so awesome! Congrats on the 30lb weight loss!!! You are truely right in that this is your journey and you need to do it at your pace. This isnt dieting this is a way of life. We have to break our bad habits and make new ones. That in itself is so challenging!!! (as you know!)

Again Congrats and keep up the great work! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Congrats on your Sparkversary!! Mmm... Mexican food. (Comes from a Mexicanita.) Hey, 33 lbs is A LOT of weight. It's not 100lbs, but this is an accomplishment because you are also a much healthier person. It's best to lose at a slower rate anyways. Gives you time to maintain a new lifestyle. I empathize with the curves lost. However this also means a tighter butt and stomach. Overall, a healthier body. Looking forward to reading about new goals you've accomplished in 2012. You can and will do it!!
Additional note to Mel: Once you meet that wheel hacker, share with pals. Sharing is caring.

    Happy happy sparkversary!!!

30 lbs. is fantastic! Yup . . . you're right about that junk in the trunk . . . when it's gone you have to figure out a style that flatters the NEW less junk in the trunk butt! LOL

You are doing a great job; there is no set-in-stone rule that says you have to lose X # of lbs. in X # of months. It's all about what is good for YOU, so keep it up!

And I am so gald to hear all the GAINS you've made this year, too. That's maybe even more important than the losses.

Here for you, my dear! Hugs.
