Lose Weight, Maintain GPA (and a mourning of a loss)

Friday, January 13, 2012

So up until this point, I have been wanting to exercise just because it's good for me, and, gosh darn it, I should just go ahead and do it. That has not been consistently working. So, new plan. I signed up for a strength/weight training class at my college. Now, I NEED to exercise, or else my GPA is going to take a blow. I have found out in the past that I am willing to sacrifice health and sleep for a grade, so let's see if I am willing to sacrifice some time and sweat...maybe even a few pounds. It's a small start, but I hope to get into a habit of exercising that will carry beyond this class.

In other news, Otis, my 1999 Pontiac Grand Am, died yesterday at 11 am. I apparently did not slow down enough around a corner, slid sideways-ish on the snow, and snapped the right front tire off of the axle. The repair would have cost $1900, which is close to more than the care is worth. He had his problems, but he was a good little car. I will miss his temperamental nature. RIP, Otis.

Signing up for a class sounds like a great start! I'm super competitive so I got started by making a weight loss bet. Sorry about the car - hopefully you find another that you love just as much!

I sympathize with you on all counts! Cars matter too!

Try to make sure you get outside every day - made a huge difference to me when I was in school.

I'm sorry about your loss, but I'm very grateful you didn't get hurt. Keep me posted on the weight lifting class.
