2011 is officially over & possibly my life is going to improve! On December 2, I wound up back in the ER. I had a second angiogram, this time entering visa the wrist. I have also had a stress test.
The week after my release from the hospital I got shingles on my face & eventually in my eye. While the vision was blurred in my right eye, I discovered that I had a stroke in my left eye & was legally blind.
I can't even begin to touch on the depression that settled in! Reading is my passion & I am legally blind in one eye & faced possible loss of sight in the other. The eye doctor recommended a procedure where I receive injections in my eyeball once a month. Yep, a shot in the eye with me fully awake.
I have had one shot so far, and thankfully my sight seems to have improved. I can read with my glasses & enlarged print again. My Mom bought me a kindle for Christmas because it increases the font larger than my nook.
I start seeing my shrink again for the first time in 7 years next week. The last year has gnawed away at me. I lucked out in being able to get in with my former shrink. Being able to vent fully to someone is very appealing.
2011 is over, and while I am learning to cope with the things it wrought in me & my life, I am very glad it is over. 2012 promises to be better!
Last night I got a recumbent bike. I got very fond of the one in rehab. No issues with the feet, works up a sweat! I don't need to worry about the weather or the amount of light (a new concern with sight issues). My plan is to bike daily & lift my weights 3x a week, do yoga the other days. I am down, but not out!
