Roller Coaster of Emotions

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

These last few days have been a roller coaster. Saturday we found the venue for the wedding. Sunday we went to a bridal show. After the show, we went to JoAnn's and found the patterns for the bridesmaids and flower girls. I will be combining 3 patterns for the bridesmaid dresses. After that we had an appointment at David's Bridal. My daughter fell in love with the last dress she tried on. Since this was the first time she had tried on dresses and her maid of honor(her sister) wasn't with us, we made another appointment for Monday night which we ended up canceling on Monday and rescheduling for Tues afternoon.

Monday morning I called the church to reserve the date. I was told that it was now no longer available. This put my daughter into a hysterical fit. She didn't want to change the date etc. etc. Well, I had her fiancee come for supper. After quite a bit of discussion and tears it was decided to move the date a week later. I called the church today and we now have the date reserved.

Also, today my daughters and a friend (who will be a bridesmaid) went wedding dress shopping. They went to 2 bridal shops and she tried on about 15+ dresses. She kept comparing them to the dress that she really liked at David's Bridal. Well, to make a long story short, she went back to David's Bridal and bought the dress. It was on sale for 50%off + she had a $50 coupon. So, she ended up getting it for $50 below the budget I set for the dress!

Needless to say, yesterday I didn't get any exercise in. I was so tired (I didn't sleep well the night before) and stressed. I did have a small victory though-- I wanted to stress eat, but I stayed out of the kitchen and went downstairs and quilted (I even finished getting the quilt quilted!)

I will have a lot of sewing to do the next 7 months so hopefully that will keep me occupied and out of the kitchen some more emoticon I have 2 kilts, the veil and straps to put on the wedding dress (I wasn't going to pay $39 for little straps!), 8 bridesmaids dresses, 2 flower girl dresses, 1 ring bearer's outfit, and my dress to make. Plus who knows what else will come up.

Tonight was TOPS and I lost 1.5 pounds!

I know I didn't reach some goals last couple of days. But that is okay. I am learning that I don't have to be a perfectionist and go strong 100% of the time. I am still going forward and I did lose weight this week.

Whoa! Give yourself more credit...not stress eating isn't a minor victory--it's an enormous victory! I'm not even under half your stress at the moment, and I've been stress eating (remnant from the holidays I think). Congrats on resisting!!

I can't even hem my own pants, so the fact that you're making 8 (holy smokes!) bridesmaids dresses is already stressing ME out (and I don't have to make them)! LOL

    Way to stay on track!

Hard to deal with the emotional ups and downs ... But God is with you, and I pray right now that He will show you non-food ways to deal with emotions through the coming months! Hooray on 1.5 lbs lost! Keep it up! Which reminds me, I haven't set a 2012 Pounds Lost Thread on our team page. Off to do that now! You can be the first to post a loss!

8 bridesmaids! Phew - that's a lot of dresses. I can only imagine when my daughter gets married - we didn't do well at all getting her ready for her first prom, so I don't even know how I'd help with her wedding. I'm tired with you emoticon

My only child is a boy, so I have not been where you are, but I think you are doing great with all that drama in the house! Hang in there and think about how gorgeous the wedding will be and how nice you will look in your new, smaller dress. 💛

Ah . . . the wedding arrangement fiascos . . . I sometimes think when we are asked to "change things up" a bit to get our metabolism movin' even better, it's just such circumstances and stressors that are the ticket. Congratulations on losing another six (6) sticks for the week. Great work with quality family time!

Good for you! I laughed a little about your daughter having a fit about having to change the date. When my son got engaged, he and his new fiance had their planned wedding date tatooed on the back of their left shoulders. Later, making reservations, the church wasn't available on their date, and they had to change it. Five years later, they still have their tatoos, but they are inaccurate.....ha ha. Moral of the story - think before tatooing. Tatoos are forever!

I well remember all those Wedding issues (I was married only 6 years ago and planned the entire thing). Enjoy all these days! Congratulations on keeping up with your goals though! emoticon
