I have a job to do

Between being sick the last few weeks and overindulging during the holidays I didn't eat my best but more importantly I didn't exercise consistently. Daily exercise HAS to be part of my life if I am to remain healthy. It takes off weight, makes my muscles strong, keeps the weight in check if I'm not eating right, makes me feel more energized (so many times I've felt tired and pushed myself only to feel more energy after a workout) and it helps me sleep better. All good reasons to incorporate exercise into my daily routine.
I know the first few weeks I will have to push myself to exercise but after that it becomes a habit and surprisingly my body craves it! So that's the first goal...set up a routine and FOLLOW it!
Tracking food is next. Even though I do eat pretty healthy for the most part I'm certain there are extra calories slipping in because I stopped measuring some things and only eyeball it. I have to get my measuring tools out because I think my "eyes" need a check up to remind them what portions look like.
And finally, I have to find activities to do that bring a smile to my face. Some may involve getting me out of the house, others can be done while home. They don't all have to be "fun" activities, just things that make me feel better like having a clean, uncluttered home.
While I was cleaning over the weekend I found some old photos where I was even heavier than before I began SP. Even though I was 20 years younger I looked old and out of shape, and actually sad. I'm never going back to that look..... hence, my new job....to take the necessary steps to move forward. And I plan to do it in a trim, healthy body with a positive outlook and a smile on my face.
Let's make 2012 the year we say goodbye to old habits that keep us from being our best! Here's to new beginnings......
