Running Plans

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

Tonight's run was kinda crummy, but I went into it with sore legs from BodyPump's Squat track. 15.5 min/mil instead of my normal 14 min/mil.Also had to take a detour to avoid the other neighborhood dogs.

I've been trying to debate whether or not to go for endurance or for speed. I've thought up two schedules. One features a 10k, the other is all 5ks spread out a month apart. At the rate of $20 per event. I'm set to spend about $240 dollars over the course of the year. That seems like a lot, so I may reduce the amount to one every few months. The warrior dash itself is 55$, so I may have to do that anyway. Oh well, here are my schedules. What do you guys think? Try out endurance running, or just focus on speed for the 5ks?

Run 3 for Huey P. 5k - 01/21/12
Amedisys Mardi Gras Mambo 10k - 02/25/12
Country Mile Fun Run - 03/24/12
2.1 miles of field and forest running. This race is not as long as others, but the varying terrain and course will test your muscle stamina. Awards, prizes, food, and live music
OR
Fat Boy 5k - 03/24/12
Crescent City Classic - 4/7/12
If I qualify at the Mardi Gras Mambo 10k.

I would see how you feel after the 5K in January to determine whether or not you want to do the 10K.

My plan is similar to yours, except I'm not doing my 5K till March. I would like to do one in February, but I don't want to run on ice/snow.

Plus, for me it depends on what the t-shirt looks like from the race...if one is included. I don't want my first 5K t-shirt to be ugly, LOL!
