Tuesday Baby?

Saturday, December 17, 2011

My younger son is probably going to become a father on Tuesday, December 20th. His wife has a "due date" of Dec. 18th and the doctor says that because she does not want to go past her "due date" she will induce her on Monday evening, the 19th, and to expect a baby boy on the 20th.

I am glad that the baby is going to be born, but I wonder if the doctor is thinking about her own convenience--trying to induce all of her patients so that they will be out of the hospital by Christmas weekend.

Of course I had my children in the Medieval time period when induction was a rarity!

I said I wouldn't do it, but I am shopping for baby things! His name will be Noel. I don't know if there will be an umlaut or not.

No baby yet: Dec. 18th, almost midnight!

December 19th: Young couple in hospital 1000 miles south of us.

December 20th: Still no baby; maybe a C-Section is in the future.

12/21/2011: 1:26 AM: Baby born naturally!

Has the baby come yet? Congratulations! I agree about the doc pushing inductions, I'm always a little wary of doctors who do that. I was scheduled to be induced one week after my due date but thank God I didn't need it, the baby came the morning of the appointment. Did lots of walking the day before and am confidant that's what did it!

I hope your son and daughter-in-law have a stress-free birth and enjoy the little healthy one afterwards!

Just tell your son's wife that she doesn't have to go along with the doctor's wishes if she is not happy with it herself.

In any case, baby will be a lovely Christmas present :)

Congratulations! A new baby will be fun.

My son was born 10 days after his supposed due date. The doctor had decided to induce labor if he wasn't born by Saturday, the 16th. I woke up Saturday morning in mild labor, went to the hospital, and son was born an hour and 10 minutes later.
