Do you feel that your weight holds you back socially?

Dang man. What’s with the hard questions??? I hope there are some easier ones coming up. (Yes, I jacked and re-wrote a bunch, but I don’t remember the order. I do this specifically so y’all get how I’m feeling the day of the question, not how I felt three billion years ago :P).

Once upon a time, I would have said no. These days, I’m going to say yes-ish. It’s been a long couple of years and I’ve been beaten down, emotionally, a lot. Whether it’s intellectually with school, or weight-wise and more with the boy, it’s just been a long few years. Now that I’m officially unemployed, it’s just that much worse. So, yeah, weight does add into all of it. A huge part of this journey is to gain back a lot of the self-confidence I’ve lost over the last few years, which does certainly get aided by weight loss, because that just makes for one really good day. I’m good at putting on a show, so do outside people generally see the lack of self-confidence? Nope! I do know how to fake it until I make it, so I do have that going for me. It will be interesting to see how I rock my own little world when I get fit and healthy. I’m pretty pleased with the trajectory at the moment, so here’s to keeping that up.

If it had before, I never noticed. Now, it tends to prevent people from offering me snack-type foods - weird, right?

Love both of the quotes. And yes, weight has been a piece that has held me back socially. I think the weight, or my perception of my weight, lead to a lack of self-confidence and low self-esteem. The bottom line for me is to be confident in myself and learn to love me for me. As the weight shed I'm noticing that I don;t hide behind baggy clothes or in the background (lol, I've progressed to the middle).

Do you feel that your weight holds you back socially?

Yes. Yes yes yes yes yes. OMG yes.

I'm already introverted. This is already a problem. But add in that I worry what everyone thinks of me (especially skinny girls who are frequently the nicest people everrr) and it definitely holds me back. A lot. And sometimes leads to stress eating mer. I wish I could say that this has gotten better as I've lost weight but it hasn't. I still worry that I'm seen as the fat one, even though I don't think of myself as fat any more. I spin it as a "well their messed up perception says I am..." sort of thing. This is still something I really really really need to work on.

I absolutely think my weight holds me back. I tend to have social anxiety issues to begin with and as INTHELOOP said its not other people's perception of me that is the problem...its mine. I hold my own self back. Its something I'm constantly working on because my rational mind knows that people do like me. I like myself also but at the same time...I dunno why I hold myself back. Like I said I'm working on it LOL.

I agree with - fake it till you make it - follows right in line with manifesting our desires!!

I think being fit does give you an edge and weight can hold you back - but not because of other peoples perception because of our own. Your thoughts on this?

When I feel heavy or like I don't look good - I am not as anxious to extend myself to others.
