The Holiday Anti-Gain Train: Week 4

Sunday, November 27, 2011

Holy cow!!! We're already going into week 4?!

Post Holiday Letdown – whew! Switch up your diet this week. Try one fruit AND one vegetable that you’ve never tried before, while learning how to cook with those foods.

I’m going to the grocery store later on today, so I’ll do an update on this blog to share with you what foods I got and recipes I found to include those foods in my meals. I’m really excited for this particular challenge though, since this week is ALL about NOT eating out. I made a mini challenge with myself to not eat out for a single meal. This may sound stupid, but if you saw how much money and calories I’ve lost from the amount of eating out I’ve done, you’d see why I have to do this!

“Everyone has a ‘risk muscle’. You keep it in shape by trying new things. If you don’t, it atrophies. Make a point of using it at least once a day.” ~ Roger Von Oech

I feel you on the eating out... I had been doing so well, but now that I'm living on my own again, it's harder for me to motivate myself to cook because it's just me that I'm cooking for. And my new place has sooo many more convenient fast food restaurants since I'm right next to Potomac Mills. That's why I wanted to do this detox, I know I have done so much damage to my body in just a few weeks thanks to the fast food. And it's been bad on my wallet too, I can't afford to be eating out like this!

I really wish I could find a few single girls that lived nearby that we could do a weekly dinner where we take turns cooking something healthy. I love to cook when I have a group to cook for.

Hmm, not sure about fruit, but I've been in a soup-y mood, so I think I'm going to try something with leeks.
