Anti-Train: Day 19

For many people, today is about giving thanks. I’m going to add a caveat to that question for this particular blogging chain. What are three things you give thanks for in terms of your body/health? Who are you thankful for being so supportive of this journey for you? What are you going to do today to show your thanks for yourself?

Happy Thanksgiving! Also…It’s birthday day!!! Luckily I can’t stand Thanksgiving Day food, so dodged a bullet on that one! Except there are birthday cupcakes… this could either end really well or really not well… Last night was a big celebration for the birthday with friends and ho boy. Lots of food ingested last night. I’ll be gulping down on the ol’ water today! I kept it to only one drink though, so yay to that.

Ok, onto the question.

Three things that I give thanks for in regards to my health are: my strong legs to get me through, my quick thinking and large brain to hold all sorts of information, and my core for holding me upright. I’m going to add one more. I’m hearing impaired, but I give thanks for the hearing I do have, so that I can listen to music when I workout.

My parents have always been uber supportive, helping out with WW payments and weight rewards. Kerry has also been uber supportive in always encouraging me to go to the gym and to work to get healthier in mind and boy. And of course, all of my bestest sparklers!!!

And today I’m going to do a solid workout to remind myself that it’s not all about eating and gluttony, but about finding a balance.

P.s. Sad panda! I got booted off the Done Girl birthday chain :(. That's no fun! Oh well, there's always next year! :)

    You and Mike have the same birthday. :D Happy belated birthday!!!

    What are three things you give thanks for in terms of your body/health?
    This was surprisingly difficult.
    - I am thankful of how far I've come with my fitness. I've made huge strides from where I was a year ago, and I'm very thankful for that.
    - I am thankful that my asthma has calmed down since I was a child. I have a lot of friends who have trouble with cardio due to their asthma and I had those problems as a child as well. Thankfully, I've learned how hard I can push myself and my asthma doesn't work against me anymore.
    - I am thankful that I have few health problems. I am healthy and happy and gradually getting more and more fit, with few bumps in the road. A lot of people I love in my life have health problems that get in the way of the living normal lives. I am so thankful to not have health problems.

    Who are you thankful for being so supportive of this journey for you?
    Mike. OMG Mike. Mike is my b/f of 5+ years, in case you don't recognize his name. He is so positive towards me. He celebrates my accomplishments and the weights that I've lost. He's at every race I do, giving me a kiss good luck and taking pictures as I cross the finish line. He's urging me to get out of bed and rock a workout in the morning, even when he's only been asleep for a couple hours. He is so so so important to me and helps keep me working hard and celebrating my successes.

    What are you going to do today to show your thanks for yourself?
    Not really sure. I think the biggest thing I did while home was stop the negative self talk. While I'm home, I eat poorer and workout less. It's part of not being in my own space / getting to cook my own food, not having as much free/personal time, etc... But I've done what I can and have limited the insults to myself. I'll get back into it Monday by getting a good night's sleep and Tuesday by rockin' out some good workouts. :D

    Giving thanks:

    - I am thankful for my health. I have had a few scares and more than a few trips to hospital in the past few years and am stoked (and thankful) that right here, right now, I have my health. PS I guess this means I am thankful for my WHOLE body!!

    - I am thankful for my boobs. They are not yet (touch wood) succumbing to gravity, have fed my son and most importantly they bring the boys to the yard hahaha (just jokes - kinda.)

    - I am thankful for my poor feet. Feet get a battering from blisters to wearing heels and then back to pounding the pavement. What on earth would I do without them?? Despite my feet are abnormally small they can keep me moving and that is my aim/goal in life!

    I actually can't think of anyone who is overtly supportive of my weightloss OR the journey ahaha. Actually I'll tell you what. I am.

    Great blog! Regular "thanks" is so important - the perspective it offers is invaluable. I am not good at consistently and consciously thinking about it but you reminded me that I need to! :)

    My three thanks:
    1. Supportive friends, family, and fiancé. It's easy to forget how important these relationships are in our successes.

    2. My stubborn attitude. Without it, I probably would have given up on training for and completing my first marathon last year, I wouldn't have stayed in Texas as long to show myself I could live alone which lead to meeting my fiancé, and I wouldn't have two college degrees or a great job!

    3. A mind that is constantly thinking (ok, sometimes I am not thankful for that when it keeps me up at night!) and forcing me to grow and learn and change.

    Happy birthday!!

    I'm thankful for my legs for allowing me to run and supporting me, my arms for gaining more strength, and my stomach for developing more of an aversion to junk food and making me feel icky when I make poor food choices, so I learn not to do that.

    My husband has definitely been the most supportive person. He pushes me on days I don't feel like working out, and vice versa, and buys me running shoes for my birthday. :)

    I stuck to one plate of food with a spoonful of everything, and skipped drinks and dessert.

    Morgan ~ OMG Happy birthday, babydoll! :) That's awesome. I'm not too fond of "Thanksgiving food" either, so.. yeah, I know what you mean. :p The 3 things I give thanks for with my health are: my back, my legs, and my smile. Back and core supports me, my legs carry me where I need to be... and smile reminds me that it is all worth it... and that I feel amazing and stronger than I ever have. All of it hinges on me keeping that smile.

    Glad to hear your birthday was so good. WIsh I could have had a cupcake! LOL XOXOXO

    Happy Birthday! I am thankful for my strong legs that can get me through all of my workouts and runs, my heart for being a caring person to others and having lots of patience, and my face for having something I don't hate looking at the mirror everyday. I am thankful to my parents for always being supportive emotionally and financially in this journey and always loving me no matter what. My husband has been more supportive over the last year so that is helping as well. I worked out this morning, have been drinking lots of water and made a crustless, lower calorie pumpkin pie (hope it's good) only 71 calories a slice and I plan on just 1 tonight. ;-)

    Happy Birthday to you missy!!! And Happy Thanksgiving! I am thankful for the curves that are starting to come out, same for the collarbones I am starting to see. I am also thankful for my wit and making my family laugh at my stories. I am thankful for you all here because you all are my biggest support. I feel like I am doing it alone most of the time. I am going to go take a nice hot bath and read to say thanks to myself for working hard :)
